WOW... what a movie! 👏 What amazing performances 👏👏... 4.5/5 stars for me! This movie needs to be seen by everyone... probably the most real cinema I have seen in a while...

Film's won the public' heart already. Critics and audiences alike have given it roaring positive feedback. Now whether it becomes a hit or average, for the audience its gonna remain one of the impactful films of the year, and it will make its mark felt in the award season as well.

the friday collection are around 1 cr
and thats horrible
i am sorry but the budget do matter
its not a low budget movie like ki and ka
so the maximun this movie would do is now 55 to 60
which will be average at maximun.
i am sorry but if audience would have loved it that much the movie would not drop horrible on next friday.
and even monday drop was also more that it was expected.
but i do agree movie was good and every performance was great.

i myself liked it
but IF and real world not same u know right??
if it had that great WOM it would have been queen,kahani etc
internet audience love anurag movies but they are still flops.

Queen and kahani didn't have A certificate , they didn't leak and some haters didn't start giving negative reviews after watching the bad quality leaked copy

Expected... Diljit's audience has a lighter option in Sardaarji 2 and the Controversy has been completely dwarfed by Salman

The film has restored Phantom and Alia's credibility and helped Diljit break in

I doubt they are making any money here though

The producers think they will make money...

Interview of Sameer Nair of Balaji Telefilms with Anuj Singhal and Ekta Batra on CNBC-TV18.

Ekta: Your global weekend collection is around Rs 53.8 crore. How much have you made?

A: It is too early to talk about how much money we have made in numbers, but suffice to say that the movie is doing well. It opened well all the hype and controversy around it obviously helped and we are moving along pretty smoothly, I think we will get to Rs 50 crore on a domestic box office in a day or two, internationally it is doing well. Obviously that pirating that happened a couple of days prior that has slightly affected it, but beyond that yes for the kind of movie it is, for the kind of subject in the message it is moving along quite nicely.

Anuj: Of course, this controversy has helped you as you said. Before all of this happened how much you had factored in, now I think you may factor in some Rs 80-90 crore, if I am not wrong?

A: I don't know see the thing is this week and then the following week after which then Sultan comes, which is a big 800 pound gorilla, so that's the sort of window of opportunity. Beyond that the movie is doing well, it is really being appreciated, I don't think the Udta Punjab was so much about just making money, much as an important message. So we are happy to have been part of this movie to have backed it to have done all of this and been part of this journey.

Ekta: What about pre-sales? How much did you lock-in?

A: Pre-sales usually what we do is we sell music before, we do satellites deal beforehand.

Ekta: So how much have you garnered from that?

A: Music we did a deal of about Rs 7.5 crore, satellite is on a sliding scale of what the movie performed at the box office. There is overseas, digital will happen later, then of course the domestic box office, so these are the broad elements. We will make some money on this movie.
