also wanna say, i never expected begums ending. eventho i was feeling sad and was shedding tears for alia, but in the end, it was begum who made me shed buckets. begum, daljit and his brother...i cried and cried.

i didn't have any problem with cuss words as well...i say if gaali deni hain khul karr deh...no kangoosi.

Decent film, brilliant performances
. This is exactly how you make a black comedy. The background score is exquisite. For most Bollywood films the background score is a distraction but it blends so well with Udta Punjab and really helps the film reach another height.

Shahid is receiving a lot of accolades but I still feel he's being under-appreciated. This was beyond Brilliant. I'll go as far as to say nobody, not just today, but in the history of Bollywood could have played this role. Just look at his eyes man, those dead eyes, hats off. Diljits role is so simple in comparison, I can't believe there's people saying he's outperformed Shahid and I'm a huge Diljit fan. His comic timing is the best in the nation but this wasn't his part.

Alia nails it too. This girl doesn't even need lines. She can literally emote through her eyes. I've said this before and I'll say it now, Alia will go down as one of the greatest of all time. She's got it all.

Kareena underplayed her part beautifully too. The scene where she's trying to stop Balli from running away was brilliance.

Diljit was apt. His role is just not powerful enough but he makes the best of it.

I was expecting a more hard hitting film, especially showcasing a bit more of the drug epedemic that's gripped Punjab and how it affects families and they did have Bali's story but there should've been more but nevertheless it's gripping, fast paced and Shahid and Alia are beyond brilliant. Watch it.

Semi spoiler alert: Some of Kareena's parts have been dubbed over by a random voice. It's a bit distracting but not much else. Looks like she refused to re-dub and the producers decided to go with a cheaper alternative.
