Im on a fence about this. Right now Im irate and want her to suffer. But then a part of me still feels that it would serve no purpose for the kid to be taken away from the mom. Already an animal died, now it would be double whammy. The kid will not do well in a foster home.

She should pay a heavy fine and should get a warning from them. That would be the best punishment.

Btw,we don't know why she didn't realize her kid has already entered the enclosure? Was she busy with her other kids?Even if she's busy with her kids still it's difficult to pardon her.If she was busy taking photos or enjoying then she definitely needs to be sued.

A few years back there was an incident in Delhi when a deranged man fell in a lion's cage. Lion ended up killing the man. There was a theory that some people suggested that that the lion might have actually been trying to save the man because as soon as the man had fallen in the animal's pit, people around the pit had started throwing stones to keep the lion away. Lion probably thought that the humans were throwing stones at the man in the pit and the lion was trying to save the man by taking the man away. The only issue being that the way lion picked the man is the way it would have picked its cubs -- using its big paws on the man's head. That ended up killing the man.
So, well it could have been either the man or the lion that could have died. Understandably, both the lives actually truly matter and losing either one of the lives in this innocent accident would be a bad thing. In the man-lion situation, we could still say that the man was responsible for his actions but in the child-gorilla situation, well you know a kid cannot be blamed as much as a grown up man would be.
And the thing is that gorilla's family/friends would not come around to sue the authorities, whereas the kids' kins might.

I read different theories and I cant find her original post which she deleted on facebook. Some people claimed to see her taking selfies, other saw her doing make up. But one thing is it was quite a distance and the child had to cross the barrier, go across the moat and then go over the edge so there is definitely some sheer stupidity and carelessness on the parents part. She is lucky it was a gorilla and not some pedophile. Why take eyes off your child? People like these should need a license before they open their legs to breed.

that incident was of with tiger, that tiger grab that man as per their instinct like grabbing prey or attacking someone who enter into their territory . Throwing stone only agitate that tiger more, sad that person had some mental issue entered the cage unintentionally and ended up his life in a tragic way.

anyway it's sad whatever happened.I think all the screaming of the crowd had agitated the gorilla and initially it seemed like the gorilla was protecting the kid but then also threw him up in the air.It must have been a horrific sight :( tranquilizer was my first thought but firstly it would take at least 15-20 to take effect and secondly the gorilla could have become violent or extremely harmful towards the child..long story short whatever happened is sad and I hope the mom was not busy taking selfies.have been reading too many tragedies happening around the world regarding people taking selfies at odd places and at odd angles😒

I have seen some parents here being too negligent towards their kids.I have seen lot of kids crying and looking for their parents in malls and Walmart.

Some time back I had seen parents leaving their newborn daughter in a rest area.😲Luckily, I saw them just on time without their baby and asked them whether they left her somewhere. Then only the father remembered that he left the baby inside the rest area.

It is really sad that to save one innocent live, another innocent live was sacrificed.
What an absolute act of stupidity and negligence from the mother's part.

Gorillas are extremely powerful you can see with their muscles and it would make easy work of the kid once its curiosity was over and saw him as a threat. Once the child fell down there it was clear as day that one of them needed to die before the other could be rescued. Even if they divrted the gorilla for a while there was another one standing right on top. There is no way for anyone to grapple down some rope and grab the kid commando style and come back up. The way it was playing with the kid and surfing him however playful it may seem it would be enough to dislocate the kids shoulder or throw him hard against the wall.
