Rs 300 Crore at stake if Raees, Kaabil and Baadshaho clash

xhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi said, "I am sure before taking this decision, they (Raeesmakers) have done a lot of calculations and thinking and they must be surely aware of how Kaabiland Baadshaho are keeping up - whether they will be ready in time for January 26 or not. Knowing Rakesh Roshan and the way he functions, I am pretty sure that if he has announced January 26, irrespective of he releases his film or not, his film will be ready by January 26 for release. Production-wise he works like a clockwork. But January 26, 2017 is still far out and I am sure it is just a matter of time before everything gets locked."

Talking about the clash, Akshaye said, "In case all the three films clash, then it is not an ideal scenario for either film. I am pretty sure one of these three will move, but which one is something that we will have to wait and watch."

Trade expert and Editor of Supercinema Amul Mohan also echoed similar emotions,as he said, "Whenever two films come out, especially two films with two big stars of the industry, there is always something to worry about. Both of them are not winners anymore, always one film will clearly do better than the other which was in the case of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale last year. We haven't seen anything from both these films, we haven't seen their marketing strategies. They aren't commercial films. Kaabil is a revenge thriller, while Raees is a biopic about a bootlegger. So we don't know their commercial aspirations. But it will be interesting to how they figure things out. We will have to see which movie wins on the basis of merit. Also there is Baadshaho which is also going to release on that day, so its not going to be a two horse race. And Ajay Devgn is in that mood that he doesn't want to move his films if he is announced its release date. Interestingly,Baadshaho was the first film to announce its release, followed by Kaabil and Raees. But, there is still a long time so its too early to say what will happen."

How much money is at stake if the clash takes place? "I am sure Kaabil won't cost anything less than Rs 30 crore - the actual cost of production, considering that Hrithik is an in-house hero and he won't charge any upfront fees. I am sure Baadshaho, from what I have heard, won't cost less than Rs 60-70 crore and Raees is another film which won't cost less then another Rs 50-60 crore. So, approximately Rs 200 crore of the industry's money is at stake on January 26, 2017 as of now. But I am dead sure, one of them will move," adds Akshaye.

Amul Mohan also said that the money riding on the films is subjective. He said, "A LOT of money is riding on all these three films. All these three films are Rs 100 crore plus movies individually in terms of the star value, branding, cost of production and marketing. So, putting all that in place it will come up to Rs 250 - 300 crore. However, all this subjective. Raees has been in the making since a long time, Kaabil is on the floors and Baadshaho is still to start. So you don't know what will be the eventual add ons or subtractions. These are BIG films and they need a single week to themselves."
