Slb directed the opera padmavati, so he knows the story well, the opera was a big success in France, so I assume he'll be making the same thing but on a much larger scale

And there is nothing wrong with making another historical , Indian history is rich with such stories and they shud be told, it opens people's eyes to the people and places of that time and the culture and traditions of that era

I never knew about Bajirao or mastani until the movie came

He should cast real rajasthani beauty with well known actor.

Tired of seeing only dp n aish as some Queens.

The thing about SLB movies nowadays is that their very visually appealing but I truly find the main characters and story to be hallow shells who you cannot connect with.

I find the tale of Padmini very fascinating and if SLB can focus on her bravery and intelligence more so than the love and obsession angles then this would be a wonderful movie. But it's SLB so I don't have much expectation.

According to wiki, Ratan had only one wife before he married Padmini, dunno how many more he married later since I remember there were many queens who jumped into the fire at the end according to some article I had read while researching about this story.

Yeah same,I also feel SLB characters really lack depth and are mostly unlikeable,imo. If handled well the story is interesting movie can be good, but then as u said its slb. Oh so Ratan had only one wife before Padmini,I doult even if he married after marrying her it will be shown in the movie.Yeah all queens and maids did jauhar at the end. All the females of the palace died so that enemies can't touch them

I love that there are so many history rich stories in India but all of them have to be made by half baked directors like SLB and Gowarikar.

Why can't someone like Mira Nair make this? Seriously! I loved Kama Sutra!

This is not a love story . Alauddin Khilji never met her but fell for her reflection n wanted to win her. No love there.

Hope they show this obsession.

Is there a book or something on them? I would like to read ... and if padmavati and sultan had never been face to face then i don't think it would be impossible to cast Ash and Salman for the roles... would it? Just imagine and buzz it will create ...😆

I wish he would cast Aish but i think he will cast DP. Would love to see Ranveer in a bad role but again historical and a king role hmm. Lets see who he will cast? It will mostly some people he worked earlier.
