Try Rajkahini by Abanindranath Tagore,the nephew of Rabindranath tagore,I think its available in eng version.It's a collection of rajput stories written in a beautiful way.The book is a gem.Padmini's story is written in detail too.It has stories from Shiladitya's time to Prithviraj Chauhan

I would like to see HR as Alauddin Khilji, Ranveer as Ratan Singh, Anuska/Kareena as Padmavati.

I agree with most here.
Aishwarya as Padmavati and Ranveer as Khilji would be the perfect Dream cast. But I think SLB will go with Deepika only. So boring!

Ranveer will definitely be in the movie... aisworya would be a good choice as padmini

Anjaam movie has the similar story line. SRK's character obsessing over Madhuri's character and killing her husband so that he can get her but he won't be able to get Shivani ( Madhuri) as she dies by killing Vijay (SRK) too.
Don't know how many are from down south here, there is one movie Amruthavarshini with the very similar story line and in that the heroine jumps off the clip and dies infront of her obsessed ashiq who had killed her husband to get her. The movie was a huge hit with beautiful songs and also the narrative is really gripping.

Ranveer as Khilji would be awesome. Do not mind either Aish or DP as Padmavathi. As the release date is December 2017, it will be ok to have another Ranveer DP movie. Only hope is that SLB will not whitewash her again and ruin her features with hideous makeup.
