How come talaash was not a flop cos of genre ?

It's the same so called dark/niche thriller like Fan. Yes it was not a clean hit but not a clean flop either

Boi is giving excuses and excuses. Talaash had content.kahani was niche too.Made on a budget of Rs.40 crore, and released across 2,500 screens, the suspense thriller Talaash has entered the Rs 100 crore movie club. Aamir Khan-starrer suspense thriller Taalash has made it to the Rs. 100 crore club. The film has raked in Rs.131.78 crore worldwide..
Whereas Fan is rejected by audience.

Yeh kaisi mushkil mein dal diya? Ek taraf mera SRK ka movie ki baat ho rahi hai aur dusri taraf se meri Rani ki movie. :( 😆

All are of this same genre and all are hits except Talaash which is Semi-Hit. Only BOI knows how absurd reasons they gave to justify Fan's bad performance on BO.
