No India does not grant dual citizenship to anyone. You cannot hold an Indian passport along with another country's passport.

India gives something called OCI (Overseas Citizenship of India) and/or PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) which basically means you can visit India and work there, have bank accounts, etc but you can't vote or be part of the government.

Why did they detain him ?? What he do ??

On topic. What is the big deal if he's a Canadian citizen? Does that make him any less Indian?

And what are their actions? The president of this country has stated the same things that they did in as many as two or three speeches last year. Is he anti national too? Is it anti national to effing acknowledge what's happening in the society? I had no clue man nationalism meant turning a blind eye to all the atrocities that are happening out there. . No one is saying Akshay is anti national for giving up his citizenship. Some of us are just pointing out the hypocrisy here. Had this been a Khan who had given up his citizenship , the same who are defending Akshay would be bashing them left , right and center.
