Ki & Ka of the film and its quirky storyline makes the film a great watch for all the Ki-s and Ka-s
Filmy Rating
Well to be honest, more of a great and enthusiastic watch for Ki-s as their Ka-s will have a lot to listen after the movie.
Jokes apart, we are going to term this film as the different film', all films are disparate but this one verily is distinct right from its title to its concept to its plot.
Besides, the Ki and Ka of the film have that unusually sparky chemistry between them making us enjoy every bit of the film.

Nirmata (Makers)
Four films and R.Balki gathered much deserved admiration, and now his name only makes a huge difference, one knows what to expect from the film. Of course nothing less than another accolade, an honor of making everyone in the audience enjoy and laugh and entertain.
Eros International and Hope Productions back this yet another unconventionally great film, this time with a small commercial vein to it.
Alekh (Story) - Patkatha (Screenplay)
The story was very much clear from the trailer, about gender role reversal and it's not only this atypical concept that makes the film so groundbreaking and newfangled, but it's the way it is ventilated.
A couple where the WO-man wants to WO-rk and the man doesn't, so now naturally an idea how the script is going to be is there.
The probable nature of the script was one fact, there will be twists and some drama related to usual misunderstandings and conflict, but even the predictability wasn't dull or unsurprising.
Much of the credits goes to the dialogues in the film, very fun, cool, easy going and relevant; everything said and presented out there in an entertaining way. Then, the ingenious nature of the whole film is itself a great spark, be it the title or the unique pairing of the leads or the way everything in the film is revolved around Ki and Ka (her and his) is creative indeed.
The film doesn't feel uneventful though the only subject it has is just Ki and Ka, the film may seem all glammed up or easy going because in reality such situations aren't so, but then we liked the thing about this film, that it entertains and doesn't leaves you in a thinking zone. And while you are entertained, there's so much the film has to say, about human nature, theories and society.
Abhineta (Actors)
Kareena Kapoor as kiA, the actress is back to Jab We Met form, we have really missed her be it for a good performance or the quantity of films she has been doing. She is just wonderful in her role, as natural as it can get.
So is Arjun Kapoor as kaBIR, at his admirable ease, he has that peculiar style of acting that puts him in a guy-next-door spirit where one ends up loving his peculiarity. He is one underrated actor for sure and we just wonder why. his acting is different and so is his unthoughtful fresh pairing with Kareena, they both look fitting together.
Swaroop Sampatas Kareena's mother is just superb and fabulous in the film, wonder why we don't see such a veteran and talented actress in films anymore. Her performance is great making her role essential for the film to look charming.
Rajit Kapur is perefct in the role of Arjun's father.
Watch out for Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's cutely surprising role, oops not so surprising now.
Geet Sangeet (Music)
The songs are totally befitting, be it audio or on screen, a good soundtrack album.
Nirnay (FilmyCurry Verdict)
One cant get enough of the Ki and Ka in the film and their dialogues, this is not just a film, this might be a revolution. This film is a sure winner for the women and well which men doesn't enjoy their partners all entertained and happy.
A great and different entertainer.

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor in "Ki and Ka."

R.M. VIJAYAKAR, Special to India-West |
MUMBAI " The film is touted by its creator " the redoubtable R. Balki " as a fun film and love story that does not want to change the world, but there is a subtle and hard-hitting message that stands out sharply " to modify Shah Rukh Khan's lines in "Chennai Express," "Do not underestimate the power of a common homemaker!"
Time and time again through this sweet, if a bit slow, 126-minute film, you sense Balki's passionate subtext " of making a case for women who look after a home 24/7 and are often taken for granted as dependent on a man, the earner and (financial) provider. They are artists, he notes, and they are the true supports and men of the house.
The film starts with Kia, aka Ki (Kareena Kapoor Khan), making a point for marriages in which women are mere pillars for husbands " supporting structures in their life without any identity. She meets Kabir, aka Ka (Arjun Kapoor), who has never wanted to be like his industrialist father (Rajit Kapur) but like his (dead) mother. After some period of getting to know each other, they decide that they are made for each other and marry, with Kabir looking after the house. They have the blessings of Ki's mom (Swaroop Sampat) but not of Ka's dad.
And then come the twists and turns, with Ka temporarily going places in society for his uniqueness and Ki getting a shade insecure with his growing popularity just like a typical husband would if his homemaker wife suddenly became a celebrity!
Balki keeps the goings-on part real and part exaggerated to prove his point that a husband can be a wife in a marriage and vice versa by mutual consent. Several small incidents and sequences are not life-like but almost fantasy-like, but it is all in the spirit of the entertainment game. So one does wish that the film had been more hilarious and sometimes more poignant, but Balki keeps the ride smooth just like his toy trains in the couple's house.
If the script eschews logic to make a point often, the writer-director deals with these deliberate "flaws" to reach a decided goal, and in this, as well as in extracting perfect performances from the lead pair as well as their reel parents, he scores high. Rishi Virmani's dialogues are fabulous.
The music works within the film, though only two songs are of note. The camerawork is bewitching in the few Delhi and Dubai outdoors and full credit to art director Rupin Suchak for his outr yet fascinating art direction in the couple's home. The trains are a delight as Balki transfers his real-life fascination for trains to reel-life through Suchak's inspired handiwork.
Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan are superb as Ka and Ki, and the latter is outstanding in her expressions that convey so much. Sampat is alright, but Kapur steals the show. The Bachchans show their seasoned expertise, but a word about their cameos is a must: Seldom have special appearances been treated so specially!
Here's a treat that should not be missed by normal, right-thinking and good human beings. You will probably come out as a higher quality person than when you went in.
