Kantara is a good film by 2025 standards

But either Kantara nor RRR are great films of kannada or telugu industry by any means

If you want to watch quality kannada movies with real good story you have to watch 1960s and 1970s movies of golden era

Same with Telugu movies or tamil ones etc

Just like bollywood movies after 1975 are mostly damp squib same apply to south too

Only malyalam mvies maintained quality after 1985 or 1990s

But slowly bahubhali, kantara are bringing story telling back in south

But not yet the quality of 1960s of 1970s by any means

The 1990s kids are exposed to quality movies through DD sunday regional movie and cable TV in 90s and early 2000s

Kantara is technically very good visually too

But story telling wise nothing will match the south 1960s and 70s movies in quality

Hopefully south will have a renaissance of quality movies and story telling

But must appreciate efforts of rishabh shetty and rajmouli(both from karnataka) for brining something different on screen after 1990s

Most new heroines too from karnataka sree leela, rashmika, rukmini, anushka shetty all are born in Karnataka and getting appreciated in bollywood thanks to increase in reach of south movies now
