Because they are not good enough.. in TV, all that is required is a hot bod and there would be numerous girls fangirling and drooling.. acting, dialogue delivery is not at all required.. On the other hand, mostly, in films, a hot bod can get you by in one film, two film but in the end, limited acting skills would end the career

TV is Trash and so are the Actors n Actresses...
Barring Few...Most of them are Happy/contant palying that same Characters for years with no Variety and same Regular Ridiculous Stuff...They consider this as 9 to 9 Job And are pretty satisfied with the Fame on social sites that they have . 😆

Their Fans praised them to Sky for the Crap they churn out and they are happpy in their La La Land..thinking they are doing some Great Stuff...

As a Result...they are Hardly few Actors-Actresses who show Depth in their Acting...

And I'm watching Dekh Bhai Dekh😆
Sorry but this Tarak Mehta n all can't hold an umbrella to shows like DBD...

TV is butchering horror shows also now. Remember Zee horror show and Aahat? Now we have bhoots go in and out of saas-bahu shows like machchar🤢

Even these comedy nights shows are nothing compared to The Great Indian Comedy Show(not too old though) when it was hosted by Ranveer Shorey, Shekhar Suman, Suresh Menon, Vinay Pathak and the likes... THAT was comedy in real sense, subtle and genuinely funny! 😆

Right. I still have some questions though.

First, how can we say that TV actors are necessarily satisfied with what they're doing? They are actors and I think it would be fair to say that at least a few of them have BW aspirations. The reason they're doing soaps is because they can't find work in movies and have to make a living.

Also, it's not like TV actors are alone in doing jobs which may not be creatively satisfying. Movie actors do them too. Actors are also not responsible for content. That depends on the PHs and the audience.

If Indian TV is trash, the reason is because the Indian audience doesn't accept quality shows, like it doesn't with quality movies. Sasuraal Simar Ka, SNS etc are numero uno because the audience made them so. It's the audience which wants to watch saas vs bahu all the time. Even when PHs try to experiment and bring out stuff like Mahi Way, Rishta.Com etc, they are soundly rejected by the audience. How are the actors at fault here? Since TV shows are like that, TV actors also do not get to necessarily show off their acting chops, because they know they are playing stereotypical characters.

I read an interview of EK after her show on Life OK with Sonali Bendre went off air that PHs try to experiment, but if the audience likes naagins over such content, there's not much she can do. If the audience doesn't change, how will content on TV change?

There are good actors on TV, just that they never get to shine on the big screen because of lack of opportunities. How is Arjun Kapoor better than any TV actor? The difference is he gets opportunities because he is Boney Kapoor's son.

👍🏼 Great post

I am surprised by many comments here... How is it the actors' fault that the content in TV is repetitive and terrible? And BW doesn't churn out garbage for the most part, every year?

Many posts here suggests that BW actors are superior in talent to TV actors.. Really?

TM Very interesting thread btw

Nearly 70% of them have Bollywood aspirations but the problem is that they take it too long to make the transition and as a result end up being over exposed as hell.. they think that by playing a character for endless era, they are building a fan base but the truth is that this fanbase never helps in movies.. Take Sushant for example.. He made the jump at the right time.. and so he is counted as a potential A lister by many and manages to get good offers too

the difference between movie actors and Tv actors is that in case of movies,m you do not have to see the actors daily.. movies come within a span of like at least 6 months or a year so audience accepts it.,. TV actors play the same thing for 4 years and are seen every day.. of course the taste of audience is to be blamed but having said that, the actor who agrees to be a silent spectator in a drama for years is to be blamed too

And lastly, Bollywood is full of nepotism.. it does not have to do with being from Tv or not, start kids would get more opportunities than an outsider.. that is something that you would have to accept at least for the time being.. But rarely opportunities do come along but few manage to make the best use of it
