Sonam is always restrained in every film (the ones that doesn't require her to be) but here it works wonderfully!

Even the weak points of the terrorists are clearly shown in the movie. They fought amongst themselves and faltered which further made the entire rescue process relatively simpler. Neerja's colleagues were shown as an extremely supportive and brave bunch, as well. Even when they were emotionally exhausted, they kept their spirit alive and served food to the passengers. The movie definitely shows it as a team work at one level. The major emphasis was on the courage that Neerja gathers throughout the situation and her attempts to think clearly without extreme panic. In addition to that, her informing the pilots about the Hijack is also not shown as some sort of 'Heroic' act. They kept it simple and didn't keep it mentioning throughout the the movie. They simply showed it as a step and how Neerja was doing her duty. The only moments where we actually get to hear a charecter praising Neerja was in the end, during her mother's speech. There's not one point where I thought the movie was being gimmicky or something. It was that beautifully made.

I do feel everyone else on the plane deserves much more credit than they're getting (or not getting at all) but why put Neerja down?
Neerja paid with her life! Its not just her bravery but her presence of mind and selflessness thats being appreciated

Others are equally brave and did work together in the project, but there is always special credit/mention who is the team lead.. And if in the process the team lead dies, the duty of the team members are to pay respect to her, and not call it undeserve attention..

Others might be brave and all, but precisely as the passengers were interviewed later, it was Neerja who decided to first break the rules/thinking/talking straight to the terrorists in favor of the fellow members/passengrs.. There is always a risk of being the first one to voice out against the powerful factor.. When every other Crew members stood up to help everyone, they saw Neerja safe and started following her.. But when Neerja stood up first she had no one to look upto for the result.. She could have killed right then or tortured or God knows that, but she didnt care.. The FIRST one to ride against the tide is always appreciated specially, so nothing new and undeserving about that for Neerja..

Having said that, the movie correctly captures the bravery of every crew members including the pilot team.. Also even the passngrs are shown to be brave, co-operative and clever.. Movie didnt show anything which we already didnt know.. Why such hue and cry now :( ..

Also that build up to the point where she channels her fears into bravery by showing her personal problems with marriage were very well done.Someone else could easily turn Neerja into a raging bull when she was getting abused and slap the guy or kill him to show how brave she is (I have been so habituated to see such things in Bollywood that at one point I really thought they would show Neerja give back to her husband with a razor or something after she comes out of the toilet.😆) But nothing of that sort.Crosscutting those scenes with the phone call between Neerja and her dad and the current airplane scenes and the inclusion of 'sabre bahadur faun' dialogue made that whole scene where she starts turning her fear into bravery so freaking awesome! Man, I can gush like a five year old about every single scene in the film.So brilliantly made.❤️

I have a feeling this film is my Queen for this year and I am going to sound like a broken record for most of the year in the BW CC and other topics here.😆
