Had seen this movie years back.

Aishwarya looked gorgeous as Paro but so was Madhuri as chandramukhi.

Kajol too would have done it ...but then SLB would have made sure to make Kajol looking her best as the Bong Paro...same goes for the dance sequences too , he would have twisted them to what-will-look- good on Kajol... Whether it would have turned good/bad/worst i have no idea though.😆

Not a fan of the movie... But Aish was looking too regal & beautiful as Paro throughout the movie ❤️ Still she hasn't set any acting benchmark with this performance of hers... So yes as Paro she is replaceable for me as far as acting/emoting is concerned.

But i can't imagine anyone else playing Nandini in HDDCS. Aishwarya owns that character⭐️

Haven't read the book too.

Saying this as someone who likes Kajol way way better than Ash. Kajol has acting, screen presence and charm. I would even use the term lights up the screen and her chemistry with SRK would have been phenomenal. SLB would have made her look beautiful.

BUT honestly, Ash was something else in Devdas. Ethereal, other worldly are words I would use to describe her. Absolutely stunning on screen. One of my favorite looks ever of hers. Plus to do Dola Re you need someone trained in dance to stand up to Madhuri. Kajol could not have done it. It would have been worse than Pinga with one dancing very well and the other trying very hard.

Well I'm not sure if I would use the word "offer"...

The story goes something like this: Babita and Karisma turned up at SLB's office with Kareena and rather "strongly suggested" he give her a look test. Kareena was then dressed in Paro's clothes and several pictures and screen tests were taken. But SLB decided to sign Aishwarya instead and we all remember the famous "SLB doesn't know how to make a film" quotes from Ms. Sour Grapes Bebo.

Yes and that is why he later wanted to cast her in BM and RL. 😛

No...first SLB was a huge fan of Madhuri and offered her every film. But after HDDCS Aishwarya was SLB's muse. That remained the case till Ranveer came into picture with Ram Leela. Kajol though has always been KJo's favorite. Every film which anyone else claims to have been offered to them actually went to Kajol first.
