No i feel like starts need to start expressing who they really are more ! i am not saying be an a** or a b***h but just be unique ! Ranveer stands out cause of his crazy persona ! where is AB was known as angry young man back in his day ! not related to bollywood but virat kohli aint crazy or over energetic offscreen yet he still gets a lot of girls going crazy over him !!
not too sure about being an extrovert or an introvert but most probably having connections does help and nothing is a stronger example of that than our very own star kids !

Why just actors? Everyone needs to be extroverted and outgoing nowadays. Or at least fake it till you make it. Networking ka zamana hain. Have you seen the job market? Its the same everywhere, first world or third world.😆

Media has expanded exponentially in the past few decades. What would have been a few interviews and interactions here and there in the past is now a life under the microscope.
Many fans expect a lot of enthusiasm and excitement from the stars. Reticent and quiet celebrities are not appealing as they do not do anything for fans. Actors who shy away too much or act reclusive are perceived as stuck up or rude or unfriendly.

But you need to have a strong network...Its not only in acting profession but in service sector too
Having a strong network helps..You can be immensely talented or intelligent but its of no use unless you are getting a right kind of chance to prove what you are actually capable of..

Exactly! In every field you need to show what you got.

I think being extroverted or at least in some way connecting with people happily, kind of works in every area of your life. Be it personal or any kind of profession. If you can connect with people, be happy and communicate well then human tendencies are to give you more preference. But that in itself is not enough. Look at AB Jr. He had almost every one from the industry considering him a pal until a few years back but then his lack of talent couldn't sustain him professionally. So, the truth is that you have to be an all rounder like SRK. Communicate well and work hard and have some talent as well. That is how you succeed. Some people have it intrinsically and mind you, such people can be sociopaths too .. they also know how and when to pull others down to make way for themselves. Using and abusing people is part of this social drama. It sucks for the people at the receiving end though. Good people don't last long. Just being able to be an extrovert will not help in itself. Some socio-political ways are what most be people use to succeed. Sucks, I know!!

I think you have to be, because if you arent then people will call you boring and bland. This own forum is quite guilty of that...people are always saying that Shraddha, Sid, Sushant are boring and that they are bland... Whereas Ranveer, Parineeti, Alia are "the best" because they are loud and in your face. There is no respect or appreciation for quieter personalities.
The Indian audience has an obsessions with bubbly people, Priety Zinta made a whole career out of that image and there are so many movie characters that are overrated due to the obsessions with loud characters (Kajol in K3G, Kareena in JWM etc etc)

Are you saying naturally outgoing, extroverted people can be sociopaths?

@TM Very interesting thread... Pendulum has swung in the other direction and now actors are too extroverted or pretend to be and we get so much info about them... TMI ka jamana hai

Fake it till u make it 🤢
Introvert ppl r a dying breed... Dy r looked upon down. It doesn't matter u cheat n lie, all dt u hv to do is network n b visible everywhere. Personally i don't like chappar chappar types. Ranbeer Kapoor is considered boring, coz he is not interested in promoting his movies. Being his fan, i don't mind it, unless he performs well. N dn there is Priyanka, she talks so sensibly, dt u wanna listen to her. Ranveer nature is such that hez blatantly honest n has live wire energy. Acc to me maintaining ur identity is imp, but much good talent is lost, coz dy dont have contacts.

Sociopathy by definition is anti-social behavior. So I'm confused how the extrovert correlation came about? The mistrust of introverts and reticent people comes from the fact that the desire to not be socially engaging is outside the normal curve.

Now extroverts can definitely be sycophants who tend to suck up to people or play a part for personal gain such as publicity or favors. Is that what you meant?

Or perhaps you mean psychopaths who like sociopaths lack a moral compass or conscience, but unlike sociopaths who tend to be antisocial they can put a charming, friendly front to hide their cold calculative side.
