There's no one-time skin bleaching procedure a person can get and change their skin tone. The only option is to use lots of harsh chemicals on the face regularly over and over continously. It's very bad for the skin and known to cause health problems and cancers. I don't think any of these women are lightening their skin.

What they're doing is using really light foundations and staying out of the sun and making sure they get a lot of bright light in their photos. Also films and photo shoots don't count because those are all photoshopped and have filters and all kinds of things going on.

Btw, why talk about these actresses when 99% of women in India who use makeup use foundations way lighter than their actual skin color. Brown skin dusky girls will wear shades like Ivory. Even the light skin girls will go *even* lighter.

Light skin is a beauty standard in India so people are gonna do whatever it takes.

What's the big deal about bleaching. It's pretty routine to get rid of the tan. Although regarding and bips looked sexier in their dusky avatars.

Everyone wants what they don't have. In the West, tan is considered sexy. Over here fair skin is considered desirable.

Do we raise such questions when they go for artificial tanning ? Does that become a brilliant initiative by them then? They are artists. They are suppose to keep experimenting with their looks all the time.

Nothing as long as they it naturally and dont use so many chemicals to ruin their natural beauty. White girls in NZ love to have the dusky skins like Indians and others.. they go for sun bath and even go toplss so that the whole whole upper body is tanned. 😉 and legs too. Very pleasant views for guys. 😳
Its just we crave for something we dont have. Its better to keep the body in shape than worring abt skin colour.

For celebs, well equations r different. Most of yhem have ruined their natural beauty by going thru so-called modern technology... and burnt their money for that damage.

Bipasa's skin show can turn on many men than Karishma's skin show. Go figure!

Except for sridevi hema and rekha others r dusky enough. Even they look fine to some extent. Lighting and pic quality also matter. Older pictures make people look paler or darker sometimes
Its grooming and makeup.
Also if u r not exposed to heat much, live in acs travel in acs your skin would lighten a bit.

Lastly grass greener on other side, goras die to get a tan and tanned ones die to lighten skin.

I don't think it's that simple.

Tanned skin is considered desirable in the West, but it is not implied that pale skin is inferior to it.

Whereas in India, ads for skin lightening treatments always portray dark skin as inferior and some kind of hurdle to cross. No tanning salon in the West would get away with saying that tanned skin will help you get better jobs or have a better life. They would be sued left, right and centre.

The truth is that in India, a lot of these skin lightening treatments foster the idea that 'dark skin is ugly and inferior'. That's the problem which needs to be addressed. So many of these actresses are harming their skin to look lighter, 'cause there is immense pressure on them to be 'fair and lovely'.

I dont think only India considers white desirable...i've been through several blogs while i use to search for remedies for my own dry skin...those blog owners had always been complaining of dark skin ... most of them were not indian while some of them were... even Pakistan is obsessed with it. In my college.. white girls defame dark girls.. Its just not for society.. People themselve are in awe of the light color...
