While most of Bollywood's denizen had expressed dismay and alarm at the government's unofficial ban on po*nography on the internet, Irrfan Khan is not happy with the government's roll-back on the issue. He says, "Freedom to access any kind of information and entertainment on the internet is a fine thing. But this accessibility to po*n is a huge problem for parents whose children are prematurely exposed to adult content. There is no stopping the free flow of smut on the internet."

Irrfan has two growing sons and he is concerned about what po*nography can do to children. "It's not only about child po*nography, which is a very serious issue. It's also about children getting free access to po*nography. A five-year-old child can look at sexually explicit content on the net without knowing what is being done. It can mess up his perceptions of gender equations for all times."

Irrfan also has a huge aesthetic objection to po*nography. "po*nography reduces the art of love-making to very basic carnal visuals. Love making is not only about private parts and ejaculation. By bringing sex down to the most elementary level we are stripping the art of love making of everything except instant gratification. That's a very dangerous position to take." The actor also expresses grave concern about the participants in po*nographic films. "Especially, the women who shoot for these films are highly susceptible to exploitation. They do it mainly out of financial compulsions."

Irrfan feels po*nography should stay banned. "It's only harmful to society. Nothing there that threatens our freedom."

bingo!...and people should do sum research how po*n is made...read interviews of former po*nstars...po*n is made from money of drug mafia and sex trafficking and po*nstar has to compromise at every scene if they say no to any scene they refuse to pay money...they test them fake labs and fake doctors and they keep getting sex diseases... same time do reseach how po*n addiction can destroy ur life personally and professionally

I guess it works well for Bollywood. Before the internet, I would assume, it was the Bollywood actresses who helped many boys reach manhood.

The question is why would you give your 5 year old kid free internet access in the first place? Is it not your responsibility as parents to keep a check on what one is doing on the net? (Why would you even give a less than 10 year old internet access is beyond me)

I do not recommend a po*n ban. Let people decide for themselves what they want to do with their lives.

He reminds me of that Censor Board guy who took his sex year old kid to see Shuddh Desi Romance and then kept cribbing about it

Takes guts to speak out like this... hats off to you Irfan, you voiced your opinion at the risk of sounding obscurantist...Even I don't agree with the opinions of "liberals".

WTH! Ever heard of Child Lock Irffan? Technology has progressed a lot.

I don't understand this. What a person does or watches inside the boundaries of his home shouldn't be anybody's concern let alone banning something. Government has a really ambitious vision if they think they can ban something on the internet. This ban will only make people maybe buy & waste their hard earned money on po*n. It can also have an alarming increase in rape rate in the country which is terrifying. I do not support po*n ban.

po*n should be banned. The people who want to see it, will see it anyways. Through vpn or using poxy sites. But officially po*n should be banned. Its distructive and addictive and it messes with young brains big time.

abt freedom thing...ppl hv already started using proxy services for po*n..desperate situation apparently...
the ban atleast wont make it accessible EASILY for kids to watch it...
nd no...how much u ever try...u cant keep ur child fully unaware frm all such things...so those saying baccho ko control karo..u r being unreasonable...

I completely agree with his opinion about po*nography. On everything he said about it's physical, psychological and societal ramifications he was bang on!

But, banning it is wrong. Moral policing by the government is wrong a very dangerous precedent to set. Today it's po*n, tomorrow it's restrictions on what kind of bikinis girls can wear to the pool or at the beach, next thing you know you can get arrested on your way to dinner with your boyfriend/girlfriend because you were holding hands or sitting too closely while unmarried.

It really sounds like he's unaware of child lock options on computers. I suppose in this day and age kids can get into anything, if not at home than at a friends house or outside playing with friends. But you cannot really keep your kids in a bubble. You talk to them, you discuss everything at appropriate age intervals, give them good values and make sure they know to always come to you with any questions no matter what.
