Q. Why are all the big stars fighting over holidays, is it because they know they can't open a film on a non holiday like an Amitabh Bachchan did in his hey day?

Ans. The business scenario has changed and the fact is with such a short lifespan of films holidays add to the business of a film whether the film succeeds or not. Take out a holiday from a flop film like Besharam a 56 crore lifetime nett becomes 46 crore nett. That is an extra 5 crore share and this is with a flop. Everybody wants a holiday and announces hoping others stay but when you set a date on a big holiday that film has to be feared otherwise others will be prepared to take it on.

BOI says that Besharam would have made 10 crores😲 on opening day,if it hadn't been a national holiday..we have seen how much 2 States and Ek Villain opened at on a working day!
