'Rangoon begins in November, will continue shooting till March in Mumbai & Arunachal Pradesh' - Vishal Bhardwaj

The pre-production for 'Rangoon' has begun and Vishal Bharadwaj is prepping up for the movie currently. Kangana is undergoing some workshops for dance and horse riding.

Ask director Vishal as to what's the status of the movie, he says, "I am just going to start Rangoon now in November. It isn't only the script that has to be taken care of but also the other minute details like costume, props, color etc."

Incidentally, Saif had recently told us in an interview that he agreed to do 'Rangoon' only because it was a Vishal Bharadwaj film. Probe Vishal what he has to react to this compliment, the filmmaker admits, "I am honoured with this."

He continues, "We will start shooting from November and continue up to March and it will be shot in Mumbai and Arunachal Pradesh."

Well, we surely can't wait to watch this Saif, Shahid & Kangana starrer period drama!

Shahid said, he will start shooting for in December during the live event. He's read reports saying November but it's Dec actually.

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who will be seen in a different look in Vishal Bharadwaj's Rangoon, said the director has always given him good looks in his films.

"I read reports that shooting for my next film Rangoon begins in November but that it is not true. I start shooting in December. Vishal (Bharadwaj) has asked me to go grow beard potentially maybe we can use it (look) for the film," Shahid told reporters.

"I do what he (Vishal) says, I don't discuss much with him. He has always given me good looks in his films," the Haider star said.

In Mr Bhardwaj's Haider, Shahid had sported a bald look, while in Kaminey, where he had double role, Shahid had long hair and a chiseled body.

Rangoon also starring Kangana Ranuat and Saif Ali Khan, is romantic musical film. The film is a love triangle set against the backdrop of the World War II. It is scheduled to release in October next year.

'Rangoon' not inspired by 'Casablanca': Vishal Bhardwaj

Mumbai, Oct 10, 2015 (IANS)

Acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, who is receiving rave reviews for "Talvar", has clarified that his upcoming film "Rangoon" is not inspired by the Hollywood classic "Casablanca".

"I never said it ('Rangoon') was inspired by Casablanca, but it was from the same period and during World War II. It was also a love triangle. I thought of it as a reference but now it is getting tagged with it. It's good if people are thinking in that way," Vishal said.

Talking about the film's story, Vishal said "It is a love story based in the 1940s in the backdrop of World War II. In history very few people know that India was also involved in the war. On the Burma border the British Indian army was fighting against Subhash Chandra Bose's INA (Indian National Army), who were then with Japanese army and Indians were killing Indians at the Burma border."

"Rangoon" stars Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. It's scheduled to take off in early 2016.
