Well from what I have read so far the film will have Moulin Rouge and Casablanca feel, as hinted by Vishal.

Kangana seems to have the leading role here. She plays the character called "Julia" who is modeled after a Broadway star. Early this year, there were talks that Vishal was making a movie called Julia but later it got retitled as Rangoon. "Julia' is also being modeled after Fearless Nadia, per some news. In fact, in one of Kangana;s video interview during TWMR promotions, she said she was doing Vishal's movie called "Julia", then immediately corrected "Rangoon' - confirming the movie title did get changed to add more commercial appeal and feel less like a women centric film.😆

Her character might seem to be involved with both Saif (the older Army officer) and Shahid (the younger) at various points in the story. She may ditch one for the other and resurface. This is assuming if the track has any resemblance to Casablanca.

I am eagerly looking forward to this movie. I hope it is a well made film and makes money too. The star cast and production values are in place. Fingers Crossed!!

Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj's next film Rangoon' is going to get bigger and better. The latest buzz is that the film will have two leading ladies, not one as reported earlier.

The Haider' director has already cast Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut to play important roles in the film. He is still on a lookout for a new girl to play the second lead in the movie.

A source close to the film said "The audition for the second lead is in progress on a daily basis, but he (Vishal) still hasn't found a suitable actress. He doesn't want a beautiful looking girl but is on a looking for someone who looks ordinary but real"

"The second female lead has an equally powerful role to play and Vishal doesn't want to take a risk on casting anyone with less talent" the source added

Rangoon, which is said to be Bhardwaj's most expensive project till date, is set against the backdrop of Second World War where a lot of Indians lost their lives owing to the fact that Indian soldiers from the British army fought against Subhash Chandra Bose's Indian National Army in Rangoon.

The film will go on floors in December this year.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Passionate Love Story' With Shahid and Saif

Kangana Ranaut is looking forward to Vishal Bhardwaj's period drama Rangoon, that will see her playing an actress, who is romantically involved with her mentor.

Riding high on the success of her latest film Tanu Weds Manu Returns, the National Award-winning actress will star alongside Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in the movie.

While Vishal got career defining performances out of Shahid and Saif in Kaminey, Haider and Omkara, it remains to be seen how he uses Kangana's talent in the period drama.

Kangana calls the movie a "Passionate love story", which is set in the 1940s, a turbulent period of Indian history.

"It is a film which is set in the 1940s, during the World War II. It is about three characters - a superstar, her mentor with whom she is romantically involved with and another one is a soldier. It is about INA, independence and so many other things. It is a very passionate love story," Kangana told PTI.
