Shahid transforms from Sikh to Muslim in Rangoon

While the guessing game of whether he's doing AK VS SK continues, Shahid Kapoor's sole focus currently is Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon that also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut.

For the film, Sasha has bid adieu to his beasty beard and long mane for a sleek stache and army cut look. But there's a slight change in the latest developments, we hear.

Apprently, Shahid will play a sardar in AK VS SK (that's if he does the film) which matches with his Sikh avatar in Rangoon. Hence, director Vishal and the writers of Rangoon have decided to give him a completely different look which comes out to be that of a Muslim guy.

Supposedly, this has left the entire team and Shahid himself surprised. Well, we hope it's a pleasant surprise though.

What's Shahid Kapoor's Japanese connection in Rangoon?

Shahid's Japanese bonding! In addition to learning the language, Shahid has also begun conversing in the same with fellow co-stars and members of the crew who belong to the country.

Shahid Kapoor who was recently in the news for learning Japanese has taken a fondness for not only the language but also the lifestyle. The actor who is known to undergo rigorous prepping sessions for all his onscreen characters is doing the same for his upcoming next, Rangoon.

Rangoon required the actor to mouth Japanese dialogues, and Shahid took it upon himself to perfect the requirements of his onscreen character. In addition to learning the language, Shahid has also begun conversing in the same with fellow co-stars and members of the crew who belong to the country.

The language led to the actor bonding instantly, which started off with initial greetings and exchange of pleasantries and soon led to fun filled conversations with the international crew members. So much that Shahid has also developed a fondness towards Japanese cuisine.

His next, Rangoon which is directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, is set against the backdrop of World War II and will feature the actor playing the role of an Indian Army officer in the film. Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon is produced by filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala and features Shahid with Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles. The film is all set to release on October 14, 2016.

Actress Kangana Ranaut says that Julia, the character she plays in 'Rangoon', is extremely fierce and fiery while also being a great dancer and a great action star.

"In 'Rangoon', I play an action star of the 1940s. And Julia is a woman who is very fierce, very fiery, she's a great dancer and a great action star," said Kangana present at the unveiling of the Sephora store on Saturday.

A picture of Kangana with a whip in her hand from the sets was captured recently, which had people think that she would indulge in some action for the film. She was also snapped while she was learning horse-riding for the film and had confessed that the preparations for the film had left her physically exhausted.

Kangana, who is famous for her curly hair right since her debut 'Gangster', is currently sporting straight and short hair. She confirmed that it was her look for the film and not her own style. "For the film, I have this look.. it's not styled like that. It's more vintagy, more wavy which you'll get to see in the film," she said.

The Vishal Bhardwaj-directed 'Rangoon' also stars Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor. Shahid plays a soldier in the film while Saif enacts the role of a filmmaker. Reportedly, the film is along the lines of the Hollywood classic "Casablanca" and is set during the World War II period.

It is Sushi For Sasha When Shooting For Rangoon!

As we all know, Shahid Kapoor will be heard speaking in a few scenes of his upcoming film film Rangoon. In order to do justice to the scenes in question the actor had some time ago decided to learn the language and get his diction right.

Now, it seems that his efforts have finally paid off. Apparently Sasha' has picked up Japanese quite well and can convese in it quite comfortably. In fact, the Shaandaar star has of late been spotted conversing in the language with the Japenese crew of Rangoon. Moreover, he has fallen in love with Japanese cuisine. So now we call why they say that labour always prospers !

As far as Rangoon is concerned, it revolves around the Second World War and features Shahid in the role of an Army officer. It also features Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut in the lead. Interestingly, Kangana will be seen sporting a short-haired look in the movie. If all goes as planned, Rangoon will hit screens later this year.

Actor Shahid Kapoor may be a man of few words normally but on Saturday night at photographer Rohan Shrestha's exhibition, he seemed to be in the mood to chat. The actor's look in Rangoon has been praised and while Shahid started the conversation by saying he couldn't disclose much about the film, he went on to disclose quite a bit.

The actor was concerned that, as a period film, Rangoon would be slow but, happily, has discovered that's not the case. "It's how Haider was. It had lots of intensity and movement and so does Rangoon," Shahid said.

However, there are differences particularly in the shooting style. When it comes to Rangoon, Shahid is in and out of the schedule and clearly, it's thrown him a little out of whack.

"It's an odd schedule. I'm used to being with Vishal (Bhardwaj) sir throughout. Like right now, I'm not shooting. I'll only go back to shooting next week," he said.

Clearly for director Vishal Bhardwaj, this is a passion project.

"Vishal sir has been thinking of Rangoon for the past seven years. He's been thinking of it since even before Kaminey," revealed Shahid.

After just talking shop, so to speak, we had to ask - every woman loves a man in uniform, so is Mira the same? Shahid, tongue firmly in cheek, replied, "I'm always in unform for my wife, (mock salutes), reporting for duty! But yes, she likes my look in Rangoon. She likes all the work I do with Vishal sir."

Sounds like the reticent Mira is quite the disciplinarian and we're loving it.

It looks like that won't happen since the crew has been denied permission to shoot in the country as of now.

In keeping with its title, the team of Rangoon wanted to shoot portions of the film in Rangoon, former capital of Myanmar (Burma). In fact, the unit was to be Rangoon-bound at the end of January. But looks like that won't happen since the crew has been denied permission to shoot in the country as of now. Hence, the shoot may move to Mumbai after completing a schedule in Arunachal Pradesh.

A source from the crew said, "There have been some new law enforcements that are making it difficult to shoot in Myanmar but the makers are hoping to speak to officials and pursue the process. If that doesn't happen however, then the shoot will move to Mumbai where two sets have been erected for the film " one in Chandivali and the other in Madh Island." Director Vishal Bhardwaj remained unavailable for comment.
