5 Things You Need To Know About The Film

After a fairytale wedding and posting dozens of selfies with wifey dear, actor Shahid Kapoor is back on the sets. And this time he has gone back to his favourite director Vishal Bharadwaj. I know you won't disagree if I say Bharadwaj is the only filmmaker who manages to bring out the best in Shahid. And so having high expectations from their upcoming project Rangoon won't be wrong. The makers of the much awaited film released its first teaser poster and it has only taken our excitement to new levels. Take a look.

And if you are still living under a rock, wondering what the film is all about, the following might just help you.

1. Bharadwaj was successful in getting both Shahid and Saif Ali Khan to work on the same project. Yes, you read that right. The two actors now have a film together!

2. Rangoon is a love triangle set against the backdrop of the freedom struggle and World War II in the 1940s. It is about INA and independence, and revolves around three characters. Leading lady Kangana Ranaut plays Julia, an actress from the '40s.

We hear she has been taking extensive lessons in ballet and horse-riding for the role. Saif and Shahid have acquired a military look with crew cuts and thin moustaches. Aren't we reminded of veteran Dev Anand from Hum Dono with Shahid's look in this one?

3. Gone are the days when actors kept their looks under wraps. It's all over their social media pages now. While lead actress Kangana Ranaut went for a short hair makeover to suit the period drama, Shahid has been spotted with a moustache for some time now. We are still waiting to see Saif's look from the film.

4. Bhardwaj is also composing the music for the film. And going by his track record of musical hits in Haider, Ishqiya and Omkara, we are expecting another melodious album. Adding to it will be Gulzar who is penning down the lyrics.

Team Rangoon in awe of Kangana Ranaut

Kangana Ranaut, who is portraying the fearless character of Nadia in 'Rangoon', has impressed Vishal
Bhardwaj with her spectacular performance during the shoot. The actress apparently has been delivering a very realistic performance, and Vishal okays her shots in one take. The crew of the film has begun calling Kangana One-taker actor', a title which isn't a regular feature on a Vishal Bhardwaj set.

A source from the sets says, "Kangana excels at her work and for Rangoon, she has been giving excellent shots in just one take. She is also very professional in her approach. For instance, there's a particular scene, which required her to feed a Japanese prisoner. Since it was a prolonged shot, she ensured that she washed her hands every time and also insisted the Japanese translator on the sets conveyed it to the actor. Kangana is gelling along very well with the crew too."

'Rangoon', a biopic set against the backdrop of World War 2, stars Kangana Ranaut, Shahid Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan and the shooting is going on in Mumbai's Film City.

Shahid, Kangana bond over veg food

On the first day of shooting of Rangoon, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut broke the ice by discovering that they are both vegetarians. That broke the ice between them. Says an eyewitness, "In a conversation about food during a sequence where both have to eat whatever is available to them, Kangana said, I hope the food is vegetarian' to which a Shahid asked her if she was one. She admitted she had been vegetarian for the last couple of years and had really calmed down since then, apart from losing weight. They even discussed vegetarian meals that give strength and exchanged other food conversations." Shahid said being a vegetarian had changed him completely as a person. His being a vegetarian is a well-known fact considering he has been selected Sexiest Vegetarian in a PETA poll.
