I don get why we are so patronizing about another person's taste..So what if someone likes masala films? Do we have to call them rikshawallahs? 😕 They find it entertaining, big deal..Not everyone likes the same thing..And if ppl watch films for great acting & good story, again so be it..Ppl have their own reasons to like a particular film/ particular actor..If i say i like Ranbir for his acting, is it necessary to say he isn't half as charismatic as Salman & he is a nobody and acting doesn't matter in Bollywood? 😆 Everyone looks for different things in films/ their favorite actor or actress..Just live & let live is all am saying..
P.S. Not directed at you TM..Just a general statement which is off-topic in a way but something which has been bothering me for quite sometime 😆

Also I'm very happy to see this has been, for the most part (save for some massive GIF spamming), a clean and decent discussion!

Just want to clear the air, I'm not terming anything as "garbage".

Sure, I judge SK and SRK, but in no way do I think they produce garbage. If i were to go to Anurag Kashyap way, I'd harp on about how "their movies help the economy, and that is how I (Anurag) get to make movies" 😆

What may be garbage for you may not be the same for others ? Not a big fan of movies like HNY or Kick, but why the superiority complex for liking the supposedly "good cinema" over the supposedly garbage. Let people enjoy what tastes good to their taste buds. I liked Queen, Barfi but didn't enjoy Piku while enjoyed CE. So Piku is garbage for me while CE cinema 😆

May be if people just relied on likes and dislikes and moved onto the next movie than universally shoving down their tastes, the frustration may just die down. Just saying...

1+ Same here. I enjoyed 3 idiots, Queen, Lootera, etc if that's what people mean by quality movies, but at the same time I enjoyed Kick, ETT, HNY, etc . However, I don't feel like watching Haider, Swedes, etc, and I could care less if people care too much about others not enjoying these supposed quality movies. For me like I said, what matters is my enjoyment and entertainment, and whether garbage or quality movies give me that, I don't care. I will just watch any of it as long as I enjoy. 😆

Na you are right..The thing is i have often seen ppl scoff at masala films & i honestly have no idea why 😕 Masala films can be extremely entertaining if done well..I loved Wanted & Dabangg..I remember i was shocked that trash like CE did so well but then i realized the fact that its an ATBB can only mean a lot of ppl loved the film..And am no one to judge their taste..Even TWMR is doing so well mainly because it is entertaining..Not like its the most logical & meaningful film out there..All am saying is don look down upon a genre just because you don like it 😆

Good cinema but some are definitely not entertaining for me. NH10, Badlapur, Haider, and even to an extent even PK, good cinema but not entertaining for me. While 3I, Queen, Barfi, YJHD, WUS, CE are entertaining.

Nothing is universal. Even the most successful movie has been disliked by many and can't seem to be entertaining ex. Dhoom3, Kick.

So yeh, people just need to accept the reality that not everyone has the same set of pink glasses...😆

Do you honestly think Wanted, CE or anything of that sort is good cinema?? Its not, no matter what excuses anyone gives out. Same goes for D3.

Entertaining I agree differs from one person to another. I didnt say other movies are not entertaining . I was just making the point that good cinema can be entertaining too and a hell lot more than the usual masala crap that is being dished out.

Exactly, it all comes down to entertainment. Some of the quality movies hit the home run while even the most crappy made movie. End of the day whatever tickles your bone. Diversity dude. Imagine all movies made are like Lootera or Anurag Kashyap films 😲 I would die from excessive yawning and boredom 😆

I even enjoyed the movie called "Jeans" and time to time watch it with my mom. That movie has ever so annoying giggly Aish with her crappy acting but mehhh for some reason it's hilarious and entertaining for us 😆

So yes. People really need to get off from their superiority complex and accept may be others just have "better taste" than ya (Sarcasm definitely intended) 😆

Superstars are not fools and not are the audience who made them into one. They are superstars for a reason, that is they can and did balance between quality and crassy cinema. Somebody like them who can deliver in every genre or form deserves the tag and not the supposedly highly talented people whom the forum only hails once they magically deliver a superhit.

Salman and SRK are definitely cheating their audience by not doing their potential films but that doesn't meant that their being superstars are unfair .

Aamir Khan exemplifies what a true superstar is , he is pretentious offscreen and why should it get counted ? Even salman is a pseudo killer now and SRk an arrogant jerk, so compared to them AAmir being pretentious is pure gold.

Ranbir Kapoor cannot even come close to Ajay devgan, leave defeating Khans or Hrithik. The top 5 superstars have proven they no matter how ugly their personal lives get they are hailed when it comes to their work whereas Ranbir delivers only when he has a deepika or Katrina otherwise apart from barfi what exactly he has achieved ?

I think Masala movies have been here since forever..
This is what bollywood is about and I'm proud of the grand dances, larger than life sets. Yeh mera bollywood hai and I love it just the way it is coz it entertains me and makes me smile

Movies like Mr India, Chaalbaaz, Seeta aur Geeta (I guess) were more or less masala too but they are still so much liked...
