Discussion is about box office earnings, not talent. We all know he's one of the finest actors.
Being the 4th biggest superstar, does Ajay have less pressure to score big at the box office?
Ajay is considered one of the senior actors from the 90s who are termed the biggest superstars from our industry in the last three decades.
Now, when we have films grossing 500, 600, and 800 crores, Ajay has yet to cross the 270-crore mark, which was reached by Ajay's biggest grosser, Tanhaji, made in 2020.
Salman and Aamir have had multiple 300-crore grossers. Last year, SRK crossed the 500-crore mark, so these three are the top 1-3 superstars; Ajay comes next to them.
I'm not considering Ranbir or Vicky's films here, as they've given one film each in the 500-crore bracket but not consistently.
Coming back to Ajay, there's never been box office pressure on him to deliver a 500- or 600-crore grosser or even a 300-400 crore grosser. His films are expected to be good-quality, entertaining films; whatever numbers they perform, it remains the same for Ajay.
Now, Ajay has followed the trend of sequels to all his successful films from the past - Raid 2 was a recent hit, and there are Drishyam 3, Golmaal 5, Son of Sardar 2, De De Pyar De 2 & Dhamaal 4. Only Singham Again had the expectation of crossing 500 crores; otherwise, all films have marginal expectations. Now, with upcoming films, only Golmaal 5 has an outside chance to score big.
In comparison, Salman's 100-200 cr grossers are termed as Disasters, same with Aamir, we all know what was the status for Srk before Pathaan.
Do you think Ajay's career graph is much safer & less stressful box office wise than what Salman, Aamir, or even SRK had?
