Best way to gauge someone's success is to bring out their success ratio I believe Srk and Hrithik has the best - more hits then flops.

The list favours those actors who did more movies.

Obviously Aamir will lag behind.

It is also a fact his career picked up more from Lagaan onwards.

He has only 10-12 clean hits in his career (talking of total clean hits, not films that are semi hits or commission earners and not flops).

His success ratio can be better but not his success count.

Regarding flops, Salman and SRK gave bigger hits as well when they started out.

Aamir has had dozens of flops early in his career too. Forgot Daulat ki jung, Aatank hi Aatank, Love Love Love etc?

Aamir was saved from harsh judging due to Dil and Raja Hindustani. Only these 2 films ensured he was clubbed with 3 ruling Khans.

To his credit he revised his strategy, did all the research on audience etc to bounce back.

These days he keeps an eye on even news and issues that generated most response so that he can choose topics accordingly for SMJ.

He is almost fanatical on researching the audience, market and business. Good for him. It changed his fortunes as did the Oscar nomination of Lagaan.
