This is the problem with comparing across eras. There are are way too many factors involved to arrive at a suitable conclusion. Fan-boys like to come up with such ridiculous comparisons to suit their agendas..

Inflation, Piracy, poverty, Internet, DVDs, TV etc. There are just way too many variables going against getting people in the theaters in such numbers. The economics and ground realities are different that what they used to be.

Adjust the gross for all such factors and then come up with a figure. If you can do so, then we will talk about the merits of the said movie doing 650 crores.

I am talking about today. If PK's footfalls are so easy to match., why hasn't Salman delivered a single movie in this era that has gone beyond 2.50?? Let alone match the 2.80 and 2.83 of PK and 3I.

Forget it man, PK / 3 IDIOTS / BARFI / QUEEN / LUNCHBOX all Critical Acclaimed non-commercial kind of cinema would have been WASHOUT if it would have landed in 90's/80's. See the filmography of Aamir Khan, he has done films like HAHK/MPK, romantic films, none of them been so big hits, It is this new format of cinema - PLEX + SS, he is catering to audience these films & adding little extra collection by raising ticket rates.

This i would give it to Aamir easily, only Kick has manage to cross 2.02 Cr. Salman will never raise ticket rates to this much high to make records, regarding footfall, i am hoping PRDP will make again the highest no. as that team has given in past.

So Aamir will have upper hand in Highest Collection (Raising Ticket Rates), Salman/Srk can't break his record coz they don't raise that much.

Even you can't deny this fact that Salman made that huge 3.5 Cr Footfall records of HAHK from just SINGLE SCREEN Audience, that too having 4 shows a day, while All Aamir's 3 biggest hits have made those 2.57 / 2.8 + records by having combine PLEX + SS audience that too with almost 35 Shows a Day.

Its simple the producers were confident enough in their product.

Still its footfalls are 2.80 or 2.79; did Aamir increase them too?? How?? Surely Salman and others could have manged this number of footfalls even with their oh so generous hearts( that they didn't want to raise the price for tickets)?? What have ticket price got to do with how many people see the movie??

Furthermore, if we go by your logic;
- More ticket prices should have meant that less people would go to see the movie.
- The generous acts of other who don't increase prices would have made sure that more people watch their movies.
- So if not in net gross, they would have beaten Aamir easily in footfalls and no. of tickets sold. No??

But what happened it the opposite.😆😆 They are leagues below PK when it comes to tickets sales. The rest are not even close forget touching PK or beating it.

Aamir has is on another planet in both factors.

I don't deny it. It was a colossal achievement.

But no it is not in anyway bigger that what PK and 3I did today. You cant prove that it is bigger that those two movies and I cant prove that 3I/PK would have been bigger than HAHK.

As, I said it is best not to compare across eras. The best way possible is is to take the best from each era and rank them alongside as the greatest cinematic achievements of all time.

As for shows, yes there are more show. But the movies barley run a month in theaters these days. Compared to back then where it would go on for ages.

So, it balances out in the end.

There is hardly 83 Lakhs difference between 3I Footfall & Kick's footfalls, Aamir is on another planet in terms of Nett coz of Double the ticket rates.

As you asking who is stopping other from raising ticket rates, i would like to ask if Makers are so much confident in their Aamir Product, what is the need for Ticket Raise, won't they earn MORE coz of the content?

Aamir's home production Talaash was Non-Holiday/Non-Ticket Raise film, that too with Aamir's CONTENT / SCRIPT, what happened? Fell FLAT, couldn't even touch 100 Cr?
