People keep saying that (highlighted in red) but look at the success of films like Queen, Piku, Dum laga ke haisha and NH10. The same audience that rejected Bombay Velvet accepted these progressive films so your point is a bit redundant.

The names you mentioned did u see unreasonablly bashing of those movies, due to producers personal comment or actors personal life. Non, audience was given chance to judge those movies on there merit than bombard it with negetive feedback from rival fanbases who have not even watched the movie. Once a movie gets bashing , rest audience follow the mob mentality. U are pointing at the rejection bv faced, I have seen plenty of tweets which supported bv . But they are being suppressed by anti bv tweets by rival fanbase. And the mob continues.

If anyone killed the movie it was the disastrous promos.

Yep let's just blame everything and anyone except for the fact that the film MAY have been bad. 😆
Poor BV team 😭

I agree with it to some extent. It's bane for the movies like bombay velvet and boon for the movies like piku and queen which need the great wom.

Grapes are sour.Anushka has the sex appeal of a wet fish and Ranbir has no stardom whatsoever. It's time be practical.

I want to know exactly what they have spared from their blame game. Man up and say that your film sucked. If critics AS WELL AS the aam junta do not like your film, then there is something wrong with your film not the entire world. If it was one or the other, then all this blame game might have even made some sense. But as it stands now, BV has been rejected by Both the thinking audience and the non-thinking ones. 😆

And on topic, I love the Internet. I don't have Indian cable, haven't had it since I was a pre teen. I rely on the Internet to get stuff on Bollywood. If it wasn't for it, I would have never had the chance to watch gems like Dev D, English Vinglish, Lootera, Udaan, Queen etc as these movies have relied heavily on the web for marketing.

Too many Ifs... But first show movie goers are going without any expectations from the film and then follows the wom and articles... BV failed to do that...neither was the trailer good, nor the story was mass appealing, nor the music was captivating to the common mass... Can't blame social media if the movie is bull crap...
Do they want to say that everyone should go and watch the movie even if it is bad? No, I would ask my friends who have seen it whether it's worth watching it read the reviews rather than waste my money on some Johnny Blaraj or Rosie Norohna scenes...

Great reply to this article from a critic and someone who was defending BV earlier.
Chewie, we're home @AniGuha

Entirely disagree with @tanejamainhoon's Internet Kills Movies rant. Can't figure if it's Internet, or opinion itself, that is the villain.

Chewie, we're home @AniGuha

Basically, let's bottle up opinions coz "Hey, it might create expectations and people are too daft to make up their own minds about things."

The problem with BV seems to be that the audience could not give a crap about it. Unlike HNY or Grand Masti where people actually went to the theater to come out and say they were horrible. In case of BV, then didn't even venture into the theater. They just couldn't give #$#$ . Now that is probably because of bad promos.
