Movie achchi nahi bani, tou Audience ki galti. Movie hit ho jayye, tou stars ko credit. W*F is this?

-_- Not a single major critical review was positive either so W*F are the audience supposed to do? Spend their money on what is regarded as bad? Amazing. My love for Kashyap is going down by the second with the kind of people he surrounded himself with lately.

This!

Blaming anything and everything instead of just admitting they made a bad film smh.

And to all the asshole filmmakers and actors questioning and blaming the audience I'll remember that next time when you have a movie out. Hope the same audience that you're calling dumb and not smart enough to understand the movie reject your movies too.

When these snob movie makers think that movie going audience is a fool and they are send by God to open eyes of cine goers , their end is near. Pritish Nandy made Shabad !!!!

A lot of movies are lapped up by audiences. These BV snobs are not able to digest the fact that despite all their tweets, positive reviews and legend tweets, BV was rejected.

Sorry darling, its OUR money and we will decide on which movie we want to spend !!!

I'm planning to watch Bombay Velvet.
Not because of the reviews.
Not because how many people say it was so bad.

I'm planning to watch the movie, because I liked the making of it. I want to judge it on my own terms.

I watched Avengers2 last week, and it was absolute crap, but the movie is making a lot of money. Some of the reviews are good, but my opinion was different.

Majority of us watch movies for entertainment, if they feel that the movie was boring they will share it in social networking site,if it entertained them they will not hesitate to praise the work. After the trailer many of us criticised PIKU,many of us commented that who wants to watch a movie based on constipation? But after the release we changed our opinion, still we saw the comments of few members labelling it a boring movie based on constipation,it didn't affect the success of movie because only the opinion of majority matters in the success of the movie. I guess even if the director was Sajit khan (provided the quality was same )the movie would turned to be hit, cause the movie had a slow and steady growth cause of WOM.
Despite of the catchy songs, steamy scenes , kiss and Ranbir - Anushka pair,if BV failed the simple reason is majority didn't liked it.Otherwise the same internet would have played an important role for its success .
Director can make his dream project according to his wish ,but he should check that whether his project will appeal the audience, especially if the movie is commercial.

I have mixed opinion on this article.

It is true that Internet has affected movie watching experience. There's no element of surprise and you almost know everything through social media and other forums. As a viewer you don't go with an open mind, you go with certain expectations and preconceived notions.

But then this is also a fact that majority of India's actual moviegoers don't consult Internet for reviews or feedback. They go for their fav star or as per convenience, as they get time. I know so many who would rather download a film or get a pirated DVD than go to a theatre!
People should go back in time, and recall how arrival of TV and VCR dented movies' collections and every filmmaker was worried about it.
Convenience matters to the moviegoer. He is least bothered about cinema or hardwork of actors and filmmakers.

Reviews and media can only do so much. There were certain sections of media that had tried to pan RDB but the film succeeded anyway. There were trends like #BoycottHaider but it didn't get affected. I don't remember OMG getting media support but it did very well. Therefore blaming mainly media or Internet is not right.

Internet can help as well if a movie is well liked. English Vinglish is another film that got great WOM online and benefitted from it.

Media and websites matter but finally it's the film's own quality that decides its fate.

So we should go watch all films in the theatre and decide for ourselves just because bombay velvet has been trashed? This means Jai Ho was a mindblowing film, and as per author, Internet killed the film by mocking it. Who knows maybe author was part of the mockery then. Just watched Gabbar and I want to say honestly except for a couple stupid scenes, Jai Ho was a far better film but it was trashed... as per author, because Sohail made it.

Cool, fans speak.

You know Bombay Velvet is a dark film and not many are interested watching a dark film in a dark room. Even if the story is mindblowing..these type of films don't appeal masses. and most importantly, Ranbir Kapoor the next Superstar I mean Born Superstar doesn't have a big fandom. We feel he do. because he is junior kapoor so he was meant to have all this attention. Amidst all this attention, we forgot that he is yet to have die hard fans who no matter how bad the film is, they will go watch it just once for their next gen superstar. Nope.

Ranbir the superstar has a very long way to go before he should be handed 120 crore budget movies for himself to carry.

I disagree.
Social media is a GREAT thing for movie-goers. It's basically word-of-mouth at lightning speed.

Good reviews, tweets, blogs can do wonders for a good film (QUEEN) which would have probably not had half the success it did if released prior to social media.

And on the flip-side it works for bad films - and I have not seen BV yet, but the feedback is quite negative and the trailer did absolutely nothing for me, so I am going with my instinct and not watching the film.

Yes some audience dint like bv but some did. But a collective bashing from some fanbase with personal remarks is also bogging down movie. Special fanbase of certain stars who make shitting mindless movies. This will only result in dumb cinema as producers will not invest in progressive cinema. Bombayvelvet is far better than movies like grandmasti n masala movies.

The audience has every right to reject or accept any movie as they are the ones spending their hard earned money. They don't deserve to be shamed for their choice of movies. End of.

People keep saying that (highlighted in red) but look at the success of films like Queen, Piku, Dum laga ke haisha and NH10. The same audience that rejected Bombay Velvet accepted these progressive films so your point is a bit redundant.
