Vidya all the way. She was an average looking TV supporting actor and look at what she has done. Everyone else on the list has been a model before their debut so they don't necessarily constitute as self-made.

P.S: Kangana slept her way to the top, she is less self-made and more "man" made. 😆

Priyanka.
Absolutely no one was there for her.She gave many flops but learned from her mistakes You can actually make out the how much effort she has put in to make her perfomance better.Look at the transition from her first film to the latest one.And the thing which i admire most about priyanka is that she never did flower pot roles.Every character of hers was aa strong as the male character.

I wish there was an all of the above option. I generally tend to like and appreciate self-made, outsiders more than star kids b/c it's a longer struggle. Not to say that they all don't work hard. But most of them get big launches handed to them on a platter and get so many directors to chose from.

The one exception I think is Prateik Babbar...He I adore and respect. He really got nothing. And they way his father treated him is just sad.

Well I love Vidya but I feel modelling is more tough than TV. And it also need a lot of hardwork to get into modelling too, nothing is easy you need to work hard to get into Bollywood unless you are a celeb's kid

Deepika & Anushka got very big debut launches, I haven't really seen them struggle.
And Kangana is still on the way to become a good actress. Yes she has struggled and has had one good film but she's still getting there- she is not consistent.
Aishwarya & Preity debuted much before these actresses! Times were different then every actress was pretty much self made those days, even star kids!
I think it's between Vidya & PC- I'll choose PC! She's carved out her own way getting better with each film, taking risks and not sticking to any camp.

Preity and Priyanka.

The way they tried to diversify apart from just being actresses is amazing. Especially Preity because she is not a beauty contest winner type material and she lost her father at a young age. It is very difficult for even a man to chase his dreams after losing his father. So Preity's achievement is special and brave.

VB is next, then others follow.

Others are hyped up models, beauty queens who had an easy entry into the film world. They've had mentors, contacts and hype surrounding them before they ever stepped foot on a film set.

Kangana's struggle is 'real'. From a small town in HP, no contacts in Mumbai, no grasp of the English language. She's really worked on herself and honed her talents and skills. Even after her debut nothing has come easy. A true 'self made' woman.

Thank you. I was gonna say the same thing. Even Preity is questionable because she worked mostly with the Khans. Her first film was with Srk. True self made actresses IMO are Kangana and Vidya only.

Totally agree about Kangana. Her struggle is def more than Vidya who had chances to work with Akshay and in Munnai Bhai series early in her career. And plus she had TV experience.
