Govinda HITS back at 'small show' claims: "Jisse tum chota keh rahe ho na..."

Actor Govinda has found himself at the centre of online chatter once again. Earlier this year, videos of the actor performing at school functions in Pratapgarh quickly spread across social media. While many fans enjoyed watching the evergreen star revisit his trademark dance moves, others questioned why a star of his stature was appearing at what they described as “small events.”

The clips triggered a wave of commentary online, with some users even claiming that such appearances reflected a decline in the actor’s career. Now, Govinda has finally addressed the conversation and made it clear that the narrative circulating online does not match the reality.

Speaking on Siddharth Kannan’s podcast, Govinda dismissed the idea that the events were insignificant. He explained that the programs people were casually calling small actually had strong political connections.

According to the actor, one of the events was associated with a Chief Minister while another was linked to a Member of Parliament. He pointed out that labeling such gatherings as minor shows how easily narratives can be shaped online without full context.

Govinda’s response suggested that the criticism stems more from assumptions than from facts about the events themselves.

The actor also spoke about how social media tends to frame stories in ways that may not reflect reality. Govinda said that the digital space is not controlled by anyone, which means people can create any headline or perception they want.

His comments appeared to be aimed at the way viral content can quickly spiral into speculation and judgment. In many cases, the context behind a video or appearance gets lost while the headline becomes the bigger story.

The Agra car controversy explained

Another topic that caught Govinda’s attention was criticism about him travelling in a smaller car during a visit to Agra. Some social media users mocked the actor for not arriving in a luxury vehicle.

Govinda clarified that the decision had nothing to do with status. He explained that certain areas in the city only allow specific vehicles inside. According to him, even if someone arrives in a luxury car like a Mercedes, it has to remain parked outside because of local regulations.

Earlier this year, Govinda surprised students at two consecutive annual day celebrations in Pratapgarh. Apart from delivering some of his famous film dialogues, he danced to the iconic track Main Toh Raste Se Jaa Raha Tha and even sang Angna Mein Baba, turning the evening into a nostalgic treat for the audience.
