I think you can tell who is fake from who is real based on how the charity work starting during releases and what not. But I also think there are people that geniunely care. Like Celina Jaitley has been actively voicing gay rights throughout her career, Milind Somand another example. Nandita Das has always been active.

But for me the most geniune will always be Angelina Jolie. People need to watch her UN interviews, the stories she shares--so much clarity and kndness in her heart.

I don't care about the genuineness of celebs
As long as they are doing something for underprivileged I'm fine with that

Other actors are rarely aware of the details of the issue, talk inane bullshit, lend face to TV shows and events or do social tourism as they jump from cause to cause every few weeks like a fad or they do nothing except charity. Promotion and throwing money doesn't imply genuine awareness and commitment to cause.

I named them because they know their stuff. They talk detail. Don't just spout inane slogans as talking heads on social media or TV.

Nandita Das conducts workshops for women, Rahul Bose does grassroot work via his NGO.

I think Aamir does. The work that he has done through SMJ alone is unprecedented. To talk all those issues, present them is such a manner and get the whole nation talking about it deserves a lot of appreciation. To leave your career at its peak for a cause requires a lot of guts and dedication.

And the research they do for each and every episode is comendable as well, you can tell how much effort has gone into putting them together.

Now, lets talk about the impact. The show airs on primetime television. So it reaches to a huge lot of people. Even if 30% of those start thinking about these matter and start their lives as a new person (drive better, put the trash in the right place, give respect to others etc) its a job extremly well done.

What I like the most about SMJ is that atleast they are putting these subjects out their, subjects that are considered taboo and doing so in a dignified manner. I gave the 30 percent example above, its huge if those people are becoming aware and start working on bettering those problems. And the rest of those 80 after seeing the first 20 will start doing the same as well; not all, that never happens.

So SMJ is a start and great one at that, this is how a society advances to a better and progressive future. Kudos to the whole team for that.

None among the ones listed. Only genuine one was Sunil Dutt. I think Celina Jaitley too for the cause of rights of gays/lesbians/transgenders. She has been working on it for a long time since the time it wasnt cool to speak about the cause and its tough to fake it for so long.

The rest do lend their names/faces to a cause which is enough I guess to create some consciousness. Bachchans, Kajol, Vidya have spoken about or lent their voice to causes in such a manner.

Akki is famous for his paisa vasooli from producers, distributors etc. But he's real and genuine paisa distributor among poors! Not a big pankha of Akki but that's true... woh hype nahin karta in sab cheezo ko ...👏
