I laugh when fans say atleast a show or video by their star made people talk about an issue.

They easily ignore news reports and media debates on issues that happen daily.

There is not a single issue that SMJ took up but mainstream media had not taken up already.

Academics, activists, students, journalists do immense research as well. SMJ never showed anything we had not known before, provided we followed news seriously.

I agree with Mrs Malhotra. Lending voice or doing shows has been done by many. Real work, impactful and consistent work was done by likes of Sunil Dutt who did lot of work on raising awareness on cancer and prevention of drug abuse.

From the list I dont think anybody is genuinely interested in social causes unless it involves a lot of publicity. My Srilankan friends do adore Salman Khan for the houses he built in Srilanka after Tsunami. Maybe he is genuine. Still Iam not so sure. But if there is one celebrity who is true in his intentions I will tell Suresh Gopi's name. I have personally seen the kind of work he does and most of them are unknown to the media.
