Ya it's getting ugly some guys are even trolling her dad. I feel thats insensitive. Dont drag father and family. But we can troll her 😆

Social media has become a joke now. It is all about tokenism. And media is stupid to give publicity to these trending type attention seekers.

Take that Rupi Kaur for example. She posted pics of menstrual blood and a woman lying on a bed, with stained clothes. Her claim is that she did it for raising awareness and removing taboos around menstruation. Instagram removed her pics and she and her ilk made it an issue of patriarchy, suppressing freedom, promoting taboos around menstruation blah blah. She's getting attention on all feminist pages now and ever since Instagram brought those images back, she is being called some heroine.

Hello! There are activists in real life who are working day in, night out, to fight taboos against menstruation, provide healthcare and awareness to women, providing affordable sanitary pads to poor women etc but they are not elevated to celeb or hero status while these social media noisemakers are, for mere pics or videos.

Shame on media also for taking easy route and highlighting tokenism and armchair activists, while ignoring the real issue and real deal.

I don't have any problem with the social media making Rupi Kaur a hero but I expect the same social media to make other people working day in and day out for such movements overnight heroes too (like you said). Why should once in a blue moon shows like Satyamev Jayate bring out such heroes in the open when social media can do it everyday?

In someway I think it's our fault too. I mean if we know someone who is working hard towards a movement, who is stopping us from bringing them to the limelight?

I m not on any social media other than my websites like Google baba maharaj and YT devi ma and this forum for one-stop-BW-info..
I dont want to watch what did u eat last night, or ur babies' nappy. 😡 I can hardly catch up with my real life family and freinds as it is.. I dont want my cellph to wake me up with a stpd joke. 😡 by somebody whoz frnd of a frnd of a frnd of a frnd.. 😡

So, back to 20th century. SMS me or call me.

On the forum too, PM me but dont ask me to ur buddy. I wont accept.

On the topic, yes... they have totally missed the point but worse is revoked negative reactions to it. It was almost like DP's next movie trailer called "My choice".

Wrong move.

BigB was praised and recognized by UNFC for his contribution for fighting Polio in India.. but he was bashed too when he mouthed "UP me dum hai, kyun ki crime yaha kam hai". Nobody buys that bigb.

I dont like DP... and she gives me more reasons not to like her.

The real ones are highlighted on pages like The Better India for example. And many shows on DD and Lok Sabha channel. Till last 2 years even news channels used to show real heroes every weekend. But ever since this "viral" bullshit started, journalism became lazy. It's all about trending own hashtag or latching on to already trending hashtags.

I don't understand why they take net so seriously when majority of India's population still doesn't use internet, much less to discuss news and current affairs.

Using celebs has made them lazier still. They would rather get an Aamir to discuss child issues than a real child rights expert or child psychologist! Even if they invite a panelist, he or she is just a prop while the celeb does most of the inane talking.

Journalism is at an all time low these days IMO.

Watch this, Deepika Padukone. #MyChoice not always #BestChoice

If only gender equality could be had by exercising one's own choice.

My eyes, my mind, my choice to stare at a woman's breasts.

My choice, to accuse my boyfriend of rape to blackmail him.

My choice, to spend my evenings drinking and gambling.

My choice, to beat my children in a drunken rage.

My choice, to insert an iron rod into a child's vagina.

My choice, to kill my daughter for marrying outside our caste.

My choice, to kill six million Jews.

My choice, to kill anyone who disagrees with me.

My choice, to attack democracy and freedom.

Thoughtless exercise of choice leads to anarchy, not gender equality. Choose responsibly. Let your choices be guided by empathy.

I don't beat my wife, because I wouldn't like it if it happened to me.

I don't look at every man as a rapist, because I wouldn't like it if every man thought I was a s**t.

I clean the house sometimes, because I wouldn't like it if never had any help.

I buy him gifts, because I wouldn't like it if I never got one.

I don't frown if she comes home at 4am, because I enjoy a night out with friends too.

I don't fight if she speaks to another man, because I also have friends who are women.

Empathy - Respect, Understanding, Trust - Equality.
