thank You very much ... we will protest such stuff which will mock our Gurus and religion ... You Keep Complaining
About having an issue with everything - let me be clear , We Normal ppl have no issue with normal stuff they show abt Sikhs, its always some Groups etc who protest to be in the news and they do NOT represent Sikhs just like some grps who protested against PK
and beforegeneralizinga religion , tell me one thing , one Movie against Gandhis ( how they killed innocent Sikhs in 1984 in Operation Blue star , later in Delhi etc ) will the Indian Govt or Congress let it release ???????? why no filmmaker had never made a movie on this issue ? bcz they have no guts to go against Gandhis forget abt any religion
I am a Sikh myself. I did not say what I wanted to be shown. I just discussed rules and controversies that I am aware of. I did not complain.
Nor did I generalise. I see reports in papers every few days that raise objection to this film or that. I just talked about these as such reasons contribute to why films on other religions are not made.
Maachis was about 1984. Punjab 1984 got National Award. But yes government does ban books and films on Nehru Gandhi family and more detailed films on 1984 and insurgency in Punjab. Who denied that
Don't get touchy and attack other without reading post and don't put words in other's mouth either. I didn't write or imply things you accused me of saying.
The nature of responses should tell filmmakers how even a few sentences on religion can enrage people and why religion is a subject best left untouched.
BTW only mocking is not protested my dear. The film on Guru Nanak is no mockery or satire. It is about his life and message. But still facing protest. Sikhs do protest everything whether it is mocking or not. Though I wish we were as vocal in protesting against the stereotypical portrayal of Sikhs in movies and TV shows as well.
P.S - It is groups in every religion. Never do all people of the religion protest. Nobody can be generalised. I do not generalise on basis of religion. So when I say Sikhs protest, take it as groups of those who protested. All people are not involved in whatever that happens.
