Forget 1000 years ago, some of our grandparents were married early. All I am saying is that it is not religious practice and with time age limit has changed and it is 18/21 now. But if still some people don't want to follow that rule and marry their daughters off then I don't know what to say. And age is not mentioned in Quran or Hadith (Prophet's sayings/traditions), so if some Islamic countries misinterpret it and make their own assumption I have again no clue what to say because what Saudi does or other countries does is not my concern. All I know is that living in the UK I cannot be asked to understand how Islamic countries work or why they misuse their religious freedom.
I know the rules of India/UK and if a girl is forced into marriage, Indian Law or UK law will help her.

Keeping religion aside, it is a wrong practice I agree. I am all for marriage above 21, since I feel even 18 is too young. 😊
And I am against the 4 wives concept too, my husband is getting a kick if he even thinks of that😡

Girls get matured way b4 boys. Its fact. 😊 Yes, law can change but girl or boy needs to know when to get married. I got married at 27.

4 wives? R u happy with 2 wives for a man? 😆

As far as I know, a man can practice polygamy ONLY when the wife gives him permission to do so. Otherwise it's illegal in Islam.

Anyway, It only happens in Saudi nowadays. Otherwise, in most Muslim countries polygamy is barely practiced.

thank You very much ... we will protest such stuff which will mock our Gurus and religion ... You Keep Complaining

About having an issue with everything - let me be clear , We Normal ppl have no issue with normal stuff they show abt Sikhs, its always some Groups etc who protest to be in the news and they do NOT represent Sikhs just like some grps who protested against PK

and beforegeneralizinga religion , tell me one thing , one Movie against Gandhis ( how they killed innocent Sikhs in 1984 in Operation Blue star , later in Delhi etc ) will the Indian Govt or Congress let it release ???????? why no filmmaker had never made a movie on this issue ? bcz they have no guts to go against Gandhis forget abt any religion

I am a Sikh myself. I did not say what I wanted to be shown. I just discussed rules and controversies that I am aware of. I did not complain.

Nor did I generalise. I see reports in papers every few days that raise objection to this film or that. I just talked about these as such reasons contribute to why films on other religions are not made.

Maachis was about 1984. Punjab 1984 got National Award. But yes government does ban books and films on Nehru Gandhi family and more detailed films on 1984 and insurgency in Punjab. Who denied that

Don't get touchy and attack other without reading post and don't put words in other's mouth either. I didn't write or imply things you accused me of saying.

The nature of responses should tell filmmakers how even a few sentences on religion can enrage people and why religion is a subject best left untouched.

BTW only mocking is not protested my dear. The film on Guru Nanak is no mockery or satire. It is about his life and message. But still facing protest. Sikhs do protest everything whether it is mocking or not. Though I wish we were as vocal in protesting against the stereotypical portrayal of Sikhs in movies and TV shows as well.

P.S - It is groups in every religion. Never do all people of the religion protest. Nobody can be generalised. I do not generalise on basis of religion. So when I say Sikhs protest, take it as groups of those who protested. All people are not involved in whatever that happens.

I am all for a movie based on religious malpractices of Islam but at the end of the day its always going to be controversial when a movie is made on any religions as seen in past be it islam, sikhism, hinduism etc.
As far as practices like child marriage is concerned has nothing to do with religion , its more cultural and it happens a lot in india in non-muslims too.

Islam only has 5 basic principles:
Faith in Allah
Pray 5 times
Zakaat-If you are eligible then give atleast 40th part of your wealth as charity
Ramdan- Fasting for a whole month
Hajj- Pilgrimage to Mecca once in your life if you have enough after fulfilling all your duties

And anyone who follows these 5 principles along with having a good moral character and a good human being qualities is a good muslim but sadly nowadays that's not the case and a lot of good things are being ignored or abused and new controversial practices created.

Nowadays saffron brigade (not all Hindus!) also launches anti Hindu tirade and is ready to take offense at any film, news, documentary or even a question asked by a guest on a TV show.

It has become too difficult to discuss religion related things. You start getting warnings, attacks, or get blocked and boycotted and are only left to render apologies and explanations to the offended party (then wonder in mind, why did you bother talking about religion or religious label at all?).

If it's so difficult for ordinary mortals then imagine how tougher it must be for public figures.

If it is freedom of speech to publish cartoons that can offend the sensibilities of a particular religion or sect then would it also not be freedom to live one's life if they wanted to wear the burka? Or to marry 4 wives? Or for a woman to be okay with being the second/third/fourth wife? If freedom is everything, then who are we to tell anyone anything? Why do we feel the need to pass comments/judgement?

There is no religion that promotes oppression. None. For those who believe otherwise, need to really do their research well.

Exactly girls do get matured early but it depends on an individual when to get married.

Lol no I want to be the only wife😆, that's why I said I don't understand the multiple wife concept.
