So Queen had nothing to do with the screenplay and director. It was all Kangana.
And JWM was the script and character, but nothing to do with Kareena.

I think this is what the TM is talking about here.
That if Geet touched people's hearts, its because the character was WRITTEN that way, not because of Kareena.
But if Rani touched hearts, it's ALL Kangana and not coz the character was written that way.
I think folks don't realize how similar the two performances are. And its' because for some reason Queen is considered to be more superior to JWM, it's woman oriented, it touched on more important issues or whatever.
The truth is, when JWM came out, light hearted comedy movies weren't given importance in National Awards. Nor were they considered award worthy.
Even today, people assume that a comedy is easy, and that it doesn't require rewards. And that if someone enacts a more hard-hitting dramatic character, they easily deserves he national awards.
Like Fashion, The Dirty Picture.
People will say Kareena was great in Chameli (coz that was a hard hitting film), Omkara, but somehow JWM, she was just good. Nothing award worthy, it's overrated. Why? Coz it's a light hearted film? A light hearted role?
Bottom line, Kangana and Kareena both deserved the awards AS MUCH AS PC or Vidya in Fashion or The Dirty Picture.
Just because Queen and JWM were more light hearted and comic does NOT mean they were inferior to the darker films.
Kangana deserved it. And if the competiion in 2008 had been similar, I'm sure Kareena would have gotten the award for JWM as well.
If you think these kinda performances aren't award worthy, that's your opinion. But you can't say that ONE is national award worthy and ONE isn't. Coz they both are very similar. Both swept the Bollywood Awards that year.
