Celina Jaitley wants her parents to help her choose her life partner
After going through an unsavoury break-up with boyfriend Sean Teague, actress Celina Jaitley has reversed her opinion on love marriage. The actress says she is now open to an arranged marriage and will probably ask her parents to find a husband for her when she is ready to settle down.
"I've had an ugly break-up which was hurtful and heartbreaking and I've learnt a lot through it. I've grown much closer to my family. Now I realise what my parents and naanisaab (maternal grandmother) used to say about parents choosing an apt life partner for their children, is true.
Today, we can meet the person before we marry him, and that's the right approach. When parents choose for children they make sure they won't get hurt. When the time is right, I'll ask my parents to choose someone for me too," says Celina.
Has the experience made her wary of firang men? "Men are men," she says. "It doesn't have as much to do with the country they are from, as with other factors like economic status and family background."
So is she ready to trade her single status as yet? "No, I'm definitely not ready to mingle yet," says Celina, grimly. "I've just been through one intense relationship and a woman's heart is not something you can fix with Fevicol. It takes more time to heal emotional blows than physical blows. Right now I'm only in love with my work!" she says.
Meanwhile, Celina says her next movie Red with Vikram Bhatt is proving to be a catharsis for her. "Red is a dark love story, the darkest film I've ever done. While shooting for it, I was going through personal problems so I felt I was getting in touch with myself. It helped me perform better," says Celina. "The movie is very close to my heart."
Besides Red, Celina is playing the role of a conwoman called Sania Badnaam in Apna Sapna Money Money and a high-profile media person in Sunil Darshan's Shaka Laka Boom Boom. "After working in Sunil Darshan's film, I've figured out how the media is responsible for making or breaking the image of the star. But thankfully the media in our country are much better than the paparazzi abroad," she says.
