i am more shocked at the comments of the lawyer ... he is supposed to be a public servant , upholding law n helping people!!!!! ... how on earth can anyone even think about getting justice when the servants of justice r themselves evil? i remember one of the questions one lawyer asked nibhaya's parents during the trial ... when her body was brought from singapore , were they sure the coffin contained their daughter's body or not, did they see her face or not !!!!... if these r the kind of humans in this world, GOD only save the world!!!

To hell with such Freedom of speech ... A RAPIST has NO right to share his point of view ...
and Nirbhaya's Rapist is in a Death Row ... how can they interview him ????

actually I think it is very important to understand how a rapist thinks...how the mind of a pervert works...people need to identify the sick and perverts around them...especially someone in their own family..

NEW DELHI: While the Nirbhaya documentary shows the rapists blaming the woman, some of the defence lawyers in the case have been no less upfront in accusing her for the crime. Speaking to TOI, advocate ML Sharma stood by the statements he made in the interview.

"If you keep sweets on the street then dogs will come and eat them. Why did Nirbhaya's parents send her with anyone that late at night? He was not her boyfriend. Is it not the parents' responsibility to keep an eye on where she goes and with whom?" said advocate ML Sharma, confirming the statement he made in the documentary. Sharma trashed the interview saying there is "no legal value" in it. "They came for eight or nine days to interview me but I was never shown the finished version.Yes, I said that Indian culture is the best culture. In our culture, there is no place for a woman," he added.

Another defence laywer AP Singh condemned airing of the documentary saying that it amounts to media trial."When the documentary makers came to me to speak to my clients we went to the jail but the superintendent refused to let them meet the convicts. It needs to be probed how the filmmakers managed to speak to them. They had earlier interviewed me in 2013," Singh said.

My only concern is for nirbhaya's parents...If they are OK with it airing then this documentary really really should be aired...

I dont know if they are ok with it
But what her mother said in one interview was "she had seen the said convict in court too.he had no remorse and was smiling.
His word doesn' hold any significance as he will say anything to protect himself"

Airing the documentary is like glorifying the rapist, making him think he is a hero. If you look at his face you can see no amount of regret at all and interviewing him will only make him believe he is superior.
He has got nothing to lose at this point of time. He should be reassessing his actions in jail and realizing the horrendous act he has done but him being interviewed and been given exposure will only make him think that he his receiving his 2 minutes of fame and that will never make him realize him mistake, which basically is the point of jailing a person.

And what type of solution are we going to find by 'discussing' it? Aren't we doing this since 16th December 2012...more than 2 years now!
candle march, hunger strike...what difference did it made? Nil.
I don't see any advantage of airing this documentary. Why remind all these rape victims about their rapists... as it is a mental trauma to them..and now we are making a documentary on them to know their views. What bloody views?

The problem lies in our law...no discussion can help it.

i was watching newshour and Arnab mentioned this too that how some ppl are using this reason to defend this documentary

its not abt accepting the reality , ban didn't happen bcz of this ... its abt glorifying the rapists , how they are getting a chance to tell every detail abt the horrific rape , accuse the victim , some victims are alive , getting publicity and these documentary film makers are promoting it for commercial reasons

Rapes happen in the USA too , why they have to come to india to know the mindset of rapists ????

watch newshour's today's discussion ... i recommend

Nirbhaya's rapists were openly blaming her and women for rape. Another rapist who raped a minor brutally was describing in detail how he raped her. Their defense lawyers and many officials were giving statements like, if you can't prevent rape then enjoy it or if a sweet is outside then dogs are going to eat it...

Critics say this promotes misogyny and insults victims and their families as the graphic detail will make them relive trauma. It's called a shameless publicity stunt.

I personally feel it might scare people especially girls' parents and it might encourage those who have such views themselves.

Another criticism is that it spoils image of India and its men. But I don't believe that.

Curently government has ordered not to even upload it online let alone air it.
