Yes, we lick white people's feet for a living. Got a problem?

Oh, you totally don't worry about that. Indians on India forum have problem with me criticzing their country. I was born in India and I can't even say a word against that "holy" and "greatest" country in the world. it's bunch of BS. If Indians don't realize they've got a problem and fixation with being number in about everything, they won't be going anywhere... esp with the attitude in the society they have. There have been so many times, recently, it was RockChickGirl, who said aren't you on India-Forums talking bad about India? what does that got to do with anything. Rach, I think people should be allowed to criticize India as much as they want.

India is not ready for a format like Roast yet..and I am not sure it will ever be...it is what it is...I have personally not watched it cause it's not to my taste..if other people like it , I have no problem with that...the problem with the whole issue is that there is a lot of moral policing in India still, whether that's right or wrong is highly debatable..but sometime you have to work with and around each countries sensibilities...

The worst is the holier than thou attitude they get.

So much of the show was really unfunny.
It's one thing to make jokes in parties and private gatherings. But when you are going to actually do a commercial show followed by a youtube vid, I think they should have taken some effort to not offend people who weren't involved with the effort. Sure, go after the Alia-s and the Deepika-s and Sonakshi-s etc who attended or people they checked it out with. But don't go after Farida Jalal and Arpita Khan. It just looked vile and ugly.

And the last major flaw - it being used as a "freedom of expression" thing - I would hope that you would use "freedom of expression and speech" for considerably more important things than that piece of unfunny stuff.

Of course, now the celebs involved have no choice but to support it. They'll look foolish otherwise. But they should have exercised some caution before associating with such an effort.

Indians do not have holier than thou attitude. Problem is not criticism. Problem is generalising the whole country.

But yes NRIs and firangis think their country which they inhabit now is the greatest and has no problems and whatever that happens there is ideal and must happen in every other country as well. Our way of life should be followed by all in each part of the world and if it isn't then others are fools.

It's as bad as those Manoj Kumar films branding India as great and branding Western countries as land of uncouth people who don't care about family and are all promiscuous.

Generalisation and bashing is wrong.

And what makes you think no one does anything for their country?

Nobody has to report it to you what they do for their country in their capacity.
