Therein lies the beauty of the film. The way in which he went about holding a mirror to give us a glimpse of our beliefs about God as a human being. The alien was just a means to convey his msg. It was not a sci-fi movie.

Again, I agree,... but then again, he should had hold also a Christian Father, and Moslem Mullahs, and not only the Hindu Mahunt,...

All beliefs are equally wrong,. Whether Hindu religion says,.. that after death a vast river Vaitarni is coming to cross in your way and Nandini ( female Bull ) will help you only if you had good deeds in credit,... Or a mullah says,.. 72 virgins / allah ko pyaari hai kurbaani hence, slaughter a goat or hurt yrself bloodily in Moharrum ,.. ( Deh-daman ki activities ) or Hindu sadhu explain sthe virtues of walking on an angaar ( burning char-coal-fire ) ,... Meditation is also a Deh-daman, ( self-torture / Body torture ).. by not eating/drinking,.. Or Christian Priest says,.. since, Jesus assured that he will shoulder all the sins and will help only the Christians to take them into heaven on his own shoulder,.. a white knight ride will come,.. yada yada,.. How about the suicide thought process from an alien mind,.. point-of-view? How about mummy ( Egyptian deads ) of saving the deads in their coffins with jewels, with a hope, that they wake up, some day !

Sau baar Mantra-jaap karke ( 30 namah sivaay / gaayatri mantra ) kar ke, Time, Money and Energy waste karna,..

Maala rotate kar ke, ...Time, Money and Energy waste karna,..

Mandeer/ Makbara / Kaaba ke round-round chakar laga ke,...Time, Money and energy waste karna,..

Paidal, chaar-dhaam ki yatra karna,.. ya fir,... Jesus waala heavy cross le kar chalna,..

Ghee ke diye jalaa kar,.. khaane ki cheez ka waste karna,...

Infant bachhe ko chaar maal ki iimarat se giraa kar,... neeche,... dharm-guru/ Maulaalna dwara catch karwaana !

Bhoot-Pret , Sati-Pratha and Faansi / execution,...Re-birth Beliefs, Judgement day, Chitragupt ka chopda,... Hell / Heaven up their - belief systems,.. Monstors / Metrmaids / God / Ghost,... opens an another dimension,.. as we do not know which element dies here, which escapes,.. ( after execution, is it fair ? ) and what not ! What would be an alien's approach, towards all these?

List goes unended,... Any explation about Right or Wrong,.. from an Alien vision POV ?

By the way,... what and how far the importance of "Death",... It would/should be,. from an Alien, point-of-view... Since, Alien is the tribe, from a planet, galaxy far away ( traveling at the speed of light ) which somehow is from an outer galaxy, that had the formation million more yrs ago than earth and hence so far advanced in sci-tech,.. arena and,.. also biologically,. and genetically,..

Say,.. in this movie Sanjay Dutt dies, and Alien says,... " So What ? Oh ! wait,. Just a minute,.. and he grabs some DNA sample from his skin cells,.. he gets back to his flying saucer laboratory,... and due to some instant high-growth, genetic, biological Clone techniques,. and combined with,.. ( like we raise and breed few Hens and chickens,. Very fast,.. ) likewise,.. he goes into his flying saucer,.. and in 5 minutes you see,... 10+ more young Sanjay dutt standing,.. already,.. fast grown up and clones of the one, who just died,... ( naked though ! ) . ( Like, we are still struggling to bring Dinosaurs back on the Earth, from their Bone's DNA ) Then ? What if, that alien was here with a purpose/aim-mission of stealing the powerful genes samples and cells- Blood DNAs of our Tigers, lions and elephant, Whales and crocodiles,..to produce a stronger Universal tribe, ever,..in the entire universe ! Will story had gone more interesting, then ?

On a highly populated Blue planet, where the most intelligent spices' population is the highests among similar similar mass other troibe's population and still SEX is still a tabboo, like Acharya Rajneesh used to say in all of his tape,.. Sex is not done or discussed openly and that's why all the cars are shown vibrating in teh movies,. from where aamir khan gets his free stolen clothes,..!!

Agree that, for any stock market ,.. Greed and Fear are the only two factors which drives the market, and similarly these so call God messengers / Prophets and religious leaders are using the same cards,..taking advantage of the orthodox people and steering then in any which direction they want,... by playing these two two cards of Greed and fear,.. under the label of God !

There are tons of such things he should had portrayed in this movie,.. and the outcome would be only that, the movie had gone violent and under extreme ban,..

There had a movie of Jitendra 32+ yrs ago,.. which had gone under the ban for the same religious reasons.,.. woh swarg mein jaa kar bagaawat karta hai,.. Remember ?

It did not teach me anything because I have questioned all organized religions and pretty much loathed them since I was old enough to process and question things.

Having said that, I enjoyed PK.

I think the central message was more about asking people to question concepts and ideas instead of being "sheeple" and following the herd blindly. It was more about questioning man made constructs, critically thinking than about the vices of any one faith or religion but of course since religion was used as the device, most people will focus on that and rally against the film for no rhyme or reason. I still don't understand what the whole boycott PK trend was all about.

PK

In all of Amir Khan's films his hard work shows . PK is no exception .
A lot of toil and hard work has been put into every scene , into every dialogue , and into every expression on Amir's face . He certainly carries the whole weight of the film on his capable shoulders , but I would not dare say that he does this effortlessly...
In fact , he has done a lot of effort in fleshing out every scene , and so has the director .

Of course , Amir's trademark expression---that of gouging his own eyeballs almost out their sockets while staring at people---has been tried out before from films like 'Ghulam' to 'Rang de basanti' , but here it did not strike me as odd like it struck me in the earlier two films...for in this film he plays the role of an alien who has landed on earth , and since everything is new to him on this planet , it is not surprising to see him staring at things with wide eyed awe and amazement and wonder .

And his inability to comprehend things , or more rather his 'alien' way of comprehending things that occur on earth in a different way , gives rise to some really laughable situations especially in the first half of the movie keeping you in splits for some time . This happens because his remote transmitter for communicating with his mother ship gets stolen by a human being immediately after he lands on earth , and he has to spend a lot of time on earth to try get it back---time that he spends discovering new things and giving his own spin on understanding them ; a spin that seems ridiculously funny in the first half but becomes intelligent in the second half of the movie...so intelligent that powerful people are shaken when begins to question them...

Inevitably , for an alien like him the chief question is human beings' belief in God...and his own vain search for that God in the hope that God would help him get back his stolen remote transmitter is what gives rise to the funny situations . But his landing on this planet from his mother ship in completely naked condition , his learning about humans' need to cover themselves with clothes , his inability to speak any of the earth's languages and his eventual acquisition of the ability to speak not in any sophisticated language but a queer rural dialect of the Indian state of Rajasthan---all speak volumes about the extraordinary ability of the director ( Raj Kumar Hirani ) to entertain us and the stupendous acting ability of Amir himself .

In the midst of his travails on earth , Amir meets the woman who would eventually make him feel like not wanting to leave this planet ever---Anushka Sharma . Her hairstyle ( what in India is commonly called by those like me who are ignorant in women's hairstyling techniques as 'Bob cut' ) put me off for a while , but gradually I warmed up to it .

And Anushka is the one who discovers the explosive potential of Amir's different but mindblowing take on humans' belief in God , and his ability to hit the bulls eye in questioning the manner in which humans of different religions worship different gods , and the manner in which godmen act as middlemen to rake in financial and other profits while devotees are lured into a fools' paradise of fake promises and false hopes . And like the savvy television anchor that she is , she decides to convert all this in a television show...
But what Anushka does not know is that what happens on the television show would affect her own life...for she has her own past...

So will Amir the lovable alien be able to get back to his planet ?? And will his sojourn on our planet irreversibly change our belief in the way we worship God ?? Does Anushka make an impact on Amir or he will make an impact on her ??
Watch the movie for the answers...

There is no doubt that this is a highly intelligently made film , and it has been made to make us think . It delivers the entertainment and the churning of our minds in equal doses . And it never fails to make us laugh---at our own stupid beliefs . Above all it takes on those manipulative peddlers of religion called godmen , and it takes on them with aplomb . And it never fails to engage the audience---to the very last reel .

Some scenes like a person wearing the clothes of the Hindu God Shiva running away from Amir and cowering in the midst of a crowd may not be liked by orthodox persons , but I didn't mind them . I am not a religious person by nature anyway...
If you are expecting the film to be anti hindu like the hindu nationalists are complaining , your experience will be underwhelming...In fact I found nothing anti hindu in the movie . If you are a believer in some godman and find the film anti your religious beliefs , then your belief in the godman is your own stupidity anyway...

Of course , the part of Anushka's boyfriend ( Sushant Singh ) being Pakistani is clearly aimed at winning over the Pakistan/middle east audience and earning more moolah . Somewhere it hurts to give our Indian girls in marriage to Pakistanis who regularly send terrorists to attack India , and I didn't like that part .

Once again Amir Khan has put heart and soul in acting for a film , and once again he is a winner . Hopefully he shall continue that for years to come...

Verdict---Absolutely brilliant .
Four and a half star rating .

I saw the film yesterday. It was a lovely filmwhich did not diss concept of God, just said that dont place religion and godmen above God. Religion is good if it provides you a path to understand him and relate to him, but it shouldn't take away your ability to see, analyse, question and interpret, differentiate right from wrong.

Other than that, there are various other messages in the movie - like I believe that God has a plan for everyone and everything fits in nicely in his scheme of things while we keep wondering why is this happening , and the way everything tied in together in the end seemed to reiterate the same for me. Likewise I think someone said message of movie is God helps those who helps themselves? Yes, that is true too.

Anyhow, personally I found nothing offensive in the movie. Also, the movie was certainly not anti-Hinduism in particular, it questioned the aspects of various religions and followers which we too must have thought about at least once.

^^ The point is,.. in Gurudwara, the religious procedure is shown,..,.. Namaaz Moharram,.. and adhaan ke speakers ke waqt,... Ya church mein,.. doosare religions ka koi bhi insult,.. ya haansi-mazaak nahin kiya gaya hai,... Naa ki,..72 virgins and the terrorism issue, in which Sanjay dutt dies,... But they found only Hindus,.. Moorti-Pooja,.. to ridicule,..and Lord Shankara running from the Toilet like a shit-cowards,.. and such ?? OMG !

Were there any less salt dipped whips in the movie,.. OMG ! That,.. this adds one more nail in the coffin ??

But the Hindu God, Maha-dev - God of the gods Shiva is shown shivering like a rabbit,.. hiding, running away,.. fighting in the Toilet shitty area with Alien,.. all the way perspirated,... Shitting the brick-loads and running from the toilet,... and then is running away and hiding between the audience-legs,.. and logon ki dar -dar par thokarein khaata huaa,.. lupaata -chhoppata huaa and fearful and mockery -comedybaaz tool ke roop mein,.. jo dikhaaya gaya hai,..,.. and btw that was not simply a Hindu God,.. But God of the Gods,.. we call him Maha-dev. - da triloknaath.

Also, some ppl thinks, Hindus pouring milk on a big idol and wasting the milk is shown,.. but the Musleems,... who spits in the hoz water ( water-pond ) before taking Namaaz and then drinking the same water, as a pious one ( Kheraalu ke Baapu ), as prasaadi,... and such scenes are dearly missing.

Bhagwaan Shankar ki toh iis film ne, haalat badi kafodi,... or say,.. dau kodi ki,...kar daali,.. !

What msg did u get from PK?

Film indirectlty tells us that,... to whom we say,.. is biraajmaan on the highest of the high point on the planet Earth, on shikhar Kailaash,. of Mount Everest,...and we are singing his unending " Yasho-gaatha " day and night,...saying,..

Anaath kaun hai yahaan,.. Trilok-naath saath hai !

Din-dayaal bandhu ke,... bade vishaal haath hai !

But the same guy. when any Alien would come,... woh jaa ke, kisi sheedy-shitty Toilet mein chhoop jaayega,... baad mein, haatha-paayi ke baad,..Alien se chhupaata huaa,... thar-thar kaanpta huaa,... Luppa-Chuuppi khelega,. aur logon ki dar-dar ki paanv se, thokarein khaata huaa, apne-aap ko bachaate firegaa????

Hain naa ??? Maadar ***** !! Rajkumaar Haraami !
