And I agree. Get the feeling from watching the promos and the BTS stuff that Aamir has knocked it out of the park. Feels like something amazing is coming.

sooo looking forward to this one...only because of Rajkumar Hirani..I'm a big fan of him..and all his 3 movies are my top favorites... the man is simply brilliant is telling a story and conveying the message without being preachy...

I am so sad that I won't be able to watch in on the first day.. :( can watch it only by 2nd week once I'm back in town..oh well...looking forward!

PK Hit or Flop - Budget, Economics and Box Office Predictions

Aamir Khan starrer PK is all set to
release on 19th Dec. Here is our take on the opening (1st) day , weekend and week box office collection predictions regarding the film.

The theatrical teaser of PK (though it
was 2 min 10 sec long) was received
quite well and showed the vintage
Rajkumar Hirani elements with the
quirky act of Aamir Khan. The music is
good but none of the songs has become a big Hit though an anticipated biggie releasing on big Holidays hardly requires support from music. The selling point of this film is Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan together after 3 Idiots and the expectations are sky high
to say the least. People expect a near
perfect film from Rajkumar Hirani
everytime he comes up with a film and PK is perhaps his most anticipated film till date.

The advance of PK has started
and the initial response in premium
multiplexes is very good. The film is
releasing on huge number of screens
but the first day is a normal working day so anything above 25 cr will be a
very good figure.

Total Budget - 70 cr - 50 cr (making cost) + 20 cr (Prints & Publicity) ( This doesn't include Aamir Khan & Rajkumar Hirani's fees as both are on profit sharing mode).

Economics - UTV is distributing the film on its own so no territories have been sold.

Note :- In case the word of mouth is as good as 3 Idiots then it could go on to any figure, something unheard and unbelievable. It is impossible to predict in those cases as movie becomes unstoppable in those scenarios.

PK Has Excellent Advance Booking

PK has had an excellent advance at the major metros with block bookings by corporate forming a huge proportion of the bookings. Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore have seen a record breaking advance while multiplexes at other places are also very good but most the corporate world is based in the above mention cities so the block bookings have also come here.

The single screens advance in major centres is less but still good especially for a film like this which is devoid of hit music and action.

The record opening day of Happy New Year will probably be out of reach but it could set new highs in some circuits for the first day. The film will release on around 3700 screens which will be third widest release ever after Kick and Happy New Year.
