Maybe since she converses more in English she prefers it which is no big deal. I guess the term; first language got her in to trouble this time

She maybe right because the film industry folks speak only in English in home and everywhere. These actors speak in English in award shows, interviews.

You are right...Many homes in Bombay kids speak English or Hindi at home.
I mean Homes where the mother tongue obviously isn't Hindi.

My mother tongue is Konkani but we grew up speaking only Hindi and English.
Konkani was specifically for grandparents. This was true bec our Parents spoke
excellent English.

It happens in normal middle class families too.

Sonam knows to read and write in her mother tongue. Therefore, her stating of English as her first language is technically wrong.

And she represents Most Indian Youth of these days to precise.
I am an English Medium student, hence I don't know Hindi/Regional Language And THAT's COOL.
Attitude has destroyed Hindi. Most of the new generation doesn't know to write/read Hindi in India. Sad state of affairs. Study wherever you want, You should be fluent in Hindi. Otherwise will lose our National Language. It's nothing cool to not know Hindi if You are an Indian & living in India. You should be ashamed of accepting it in front of people.
