Can Shahid can do Barfi? Hell yeah... even bhai will do a great job

Can Ranbir do Haider? NOPE... this role belongs to Sasha and he was brilliant. (maybe ranveer)

Never been a Shahid fan, and I don't think I will be (don't like his personality). That doesn't take away the fact he is the best dancer or other talents. I like Ranbir more though.

yes, agree with you. Though i am a bigger fan of Ranbir than Shahid. Ranbir is too good in some roles but he fizzles out in others. Roles where he has to become someone else doesn't work for him because he cannot make use of his natural acting so he gets uncomfortable.
But playing a normal 25-35 year old man in coming of the age roles, nobody does it better than him.

My current grading is like this:

Natural actor- Shahid>Ranbir>Ranveer

Versatility (role range)- Ranveer>Shahid>Ranbir

Script sense- Ranbir>Ranveer>Shahid

I don't agree with you about versatility. Shahid and ranbir are more versatile. However ranveer is relatively new so unfair comparison as other two have been around for longer. i do like all 3 actors. Offscreen ranveer is my fav, onscreen i enjoy shahid and ranbir's movies more.

I don't know if others could have done Haider the way Sasha portrayed it. Possible. When an actor does a very good job with a character, it becomes hard to imagine someone else portraying it ... That doesn't mean they can't do it. But I know this Ranbir could not do Haider ... He would have probably brought in his Charlie Chaplin acts in his movements and dialogue delivery which would have ruined the character. Could Shahid do a Barfi? Possible. If you see Shahid's monologue scene in Haider ... Says it all.

Anyway, Now they have started to, before it seemed people were almost afraid to voice their opinion on his acting, lest they be judged and mocked. That is the impression I got anyway.

All fans gloat about something when it comes to their favorites, especially on IF. I've seen it happen with Aamir and his films in general all the time here, Shahid/Hrithik and their dancing skills, Salman's BOI record, Deepika's run last year at the BO,and the list is endless. I'm glad at least with Ranbir it's his acting chops and not something that's more or less irrelevant for an actor. That's says a lot right there. It's fine for people to have an opinion that Ranbir sucks, can't act or is overrated, this thread is filled with such comments for everyone to read such views. However, it should also be perfectly okay for Ranbir fans, which aren't in huge numbers on IF, to say that Ranbir's a great performer and arguably one of the best Bollywood has to offer today. I personally do think that is very true, and I also feel it's perfectly okay for someone else to think otherwise. I'm just not too sure why every other thread has someone being compared to Ranbir then? You're bound to see Ranbir fans gloat about his performances or put him on a pedestal when he's the standard in every other poll on IF. I think somewhere down the line that does show that most people do think that Ranbir's a good actor. Otherwise, Ranbir does not have many fans on IF..yet all these young actors are compared to more or less just him.

I disagree about people being afraid about voicing their opinion earlier. I don't think anyone here is scared of anyone else when it comes to stating what they feel. 😆 The real reason is that none of the other young actors were producing good performances where people could actually say or gloat about x,y,z being > Ranbir. Ranbir was more or less the only young actor doing quality work up until Ranveer did a Lootera last year. Of course, we also saw polls on Ranbir vs Ranveer..and Ranveer won nearly all of them. Shahid on the other hand was never consistent with his performances. He had one Kaminey and a JWM years back. Now with Haider, Shahid fans have a reason to gloat openly...otherwise, I doubt Shahid would've won this poll right now by a huge margin. Further, I think it's fair enough to say that the other young actors aren't there yet and saying they're better actors than Ranbir is far-fetched. It's only when these actors prove themselves with quality work, the tables start turning here.

Question. I'm reading Kaminey and JWM being Shahid's best performances in the past. What about Vivaah? I thought he was damn good in it ... Considering the time and age. #Curious
