MNIK was with Kajol, same kind of PH like Yash raj, forget 100 cr, it isn't clean Hit, it's Semi-Hit. Srk with Anushka 2nd time in Yash raj film in JTHJ did score 100+ Cr.

Yeah but MNIK was not exactly a love story whic explored the romantic angle b/w the leads deeply..It had serious different theme, kind of depressing storyline...Also MNIK catered to multiplex audience mainly...I dont think it belonged to family entertainer entertainer romcom genre like RNBDJ

I am not putting down SRK-Anushka jodi...They made a cute pair but SRK-Kajol are iconic...especially their pairing used to generate huge hype back in those days...People went crazy even when Kajol made a few seconds cameo appearance in SRK movies...Just the 2 of them sharing same screen,created a great level of buzz in media :)

Kajol would have been a misfit in RNBDJ, coz Story was also on Age-difference between Main characters of film, an aged office working guy gets married 2 young bubbly gal just out of a tragedy. Kajol won't have been suited in this role, Anushka was perfect choice, plus ppl loved the film more on Srk-Anushka's chemistry in film.

Also MNIK falling to even getting hit tag is also a hint that ppl are more so now less likely to like Srk with Kajol. It happens when u dish out same thing over n over again, may be seeing them together in all those films, they would have got bored.

I ain't seeing Srk-Kajol giving another BlockBuster in coming time, he is giving it without her.

@Bold: oh yeah! now thats a valid point that slipped my mind...Though SRK-Kajol has some 10 yrs of age difference in real,audience hardly view them in that angle,as they have always been playing college buddies and all in real life..Yes Anushka did bring a lot of freshness into character of Tanni partner...MNIK happened 2 yrs later..It was not a well made movie, failed to deliver in many aspects so that must've influenced the collections...Also I still think the movie would've done better business if the theme was light hearted romance and the genre was more commercially appealing.

Yeah SRK-Kajol might not work together in future...SRK's stardom is still untouched but the hype around this jodi must've died down comparatively...Ppl are more interested in a Ranbir-Deepika or Ranveer-Deepika...SRK is working with top actresses or newcomers mainly and giving BBs..They might work together yrs later in a movie like Bhagban maybe lol

The business it did given the kind of useless film it was is commendable.

But film should be able to become huge no matter what just like Gadar did despite all marketing, hype and media brouhaha over Lagaan.

RNBDJ was formulaic, nothing new. Ghajini was comparatively fresh because action was revived after long and unexpectedly with an actor like Aamir. The short term memory loss and tattoo gimmicks clicked.

Nobody liked Anushka much. Asin got better reception. SRK was liked as Suri but not at all as Raj.

The film was not usual love stories, it was different, might have seen in old films, not in recent ones. I haven't seen anywhere that Anushka's been not liked in that film? Asin got better reception coz of the impact scale of Ghajini all over. Aamir's comeback film kind of doing after 2 years, such huge hype around it, it might have pushed her above Anushka, but not that she was nothing.

86 Cr RNBDJ did in 4 weeks, given 1 more clean week, it would have been India's 1st 100 Cr in the name of SRK even before Ghajini, also 1 more thing, Releasing film on Same day n doing well is 1 thing, coming a film in 3rd week, denting your screens / business all over is another, which happened here, despite it RNBDJ did well.

That's not an excuse.

If Jab Tak Hai Jaan and SOS can release on the same day and both can enter 100 crore club then there's no reason why RNBDJ couldn't have
