Total: 17.

Hrithik- 1 pt for hit debut, 6 pts for BB's (KNPH, Krrish, D2), 2 pts for hit films (K3G, KMG).

Total: 9.

Ranbir-2 pts for BB's (YJHD, Rajneeti). 2 pts for hit movies- Barfi, APGK.

Total: 4.

There you have it. Ranbir's first 7 years are the weakest among the current top 5. The difference between Ranbir and SRK/Salman is astounding.

Yeah he is nice as an actor and maybe could be a good filmmaker in future. But he is no way the phenomenon or throne shaker/usurper that he is said to be.

He's ahead in the younger lot. I didn't know who said "throne shaker", but who according to you is the next set of super star who needs to give ATBB like its out of fashion like in 90s? Are they gonna import him from somewhere. 😛Yes, HR is a superstar already and belongs to a generation in between. Don't see anyone ahead of Ranbir apart from him amongst those debuted post 2000. Not Farhan and he overtook Shahid long ago.

I don't understand the reasoning behind comparing the early careers of Khans and their records vs other actors of other eras. Many factors change between generations like the kind of films made, audience desires, opportunities, etc. It's not exactly an accurate comparison.

Also, it is not set in stone that to become a big superstar you must follow a career path that is akin to the previous stars. Khans were successful right off the bat. Amitabh Bachchan who is an even bigger star than them took years to make a proper mark with Deewar/Zanjeer ...after which there wasn't looking back. Everyone's career path is different. Just because the newcomers haven't debuted with an ATBB like Khans did doesn't mean they cannot become the next superstar.

^ I think ur underestimating Akshay Kumar, he may not have scored a 200-crore film, but he has A LOT of successful films. Just a few years back he was called a HIT MACHINE. He has a strong loyal audience, Certainly more than Ajay.

I know lots of people laughed at the Singh is Bling poster, but watch when the movie release and what kind of crazy box office numbers it will do.

Even I Doubted Akshay, but his film Holiday has made me eat my words. He's not going anywhere. He went through a dry-phase, I think his last movie that was a hit was Rowdy Rathore/OMg.

Q. Is not 100 crore a pointless benchmark today?

Ans. Depends on the film, it is very good for a 2 States but not so good for a Jai Ho or Holiday. When a big film has crossed 250 crore then 100 crore does become a bit irrelevant for big films.

That's my point. The benchmark for big stars has changed a while back. 100 cr is no longer the benchmark but the minimum expected from their films...I mean people like Khans, Ajay, HR, Akki, and ..even Ranbir. I understand that Akki went through a bad phase and everyone expected Holiday to flop badly and it's done better than that, but when you look at the fact that the previous films on this release date have done 150+, then in comparison, 100 is nothing amazing.

Akki has always been inconsistent. He does really well, then does poorly. He does so many films a year. I'm not saying he's finished, but this up-down is nothing new for him. He does have a more loyal fan base than Ajay.
