Maybe for you HAHK is the better iconic story and maybe it won a few polls here at If but that doesn't mean anything.

I am not a fan of either movies but I think anyone can say that DDLJ is more iconic. Do you see how many movies are being made that r inspired from it? How many times that train running scene has been reacted? I don't see anyone even talking about HAHK anymore, but I have always heard DDLJ, not only from people around me, but on the net, on tv, media, from movie stars. I am not making everything up. Perhaps you can't objectivity discuss this topic because you're a Madhuri fan.

It's clear your just saying HAHK cuz you seem to be a Madhuri fan , is HAHK an icon? Yes, but it's nowhere close to the legacy that DDLJ has created for itself

I respect your opinion briahna..to each their own! But i find Sri's act in Chalbaaz much more better than Hema's. I love both the movies, but Sri wins in acting and nailing her role...

Generally, WITHOUT A DOUBT Sri is a much better actress! NO COMPETITION/Comparison ..Hema doesn't even come in the Top-5 Best Actress of Hindi Cinema list to me.. Hema is more of a Looker than an actress ...she's a VERY mediocre actress ...She's like the Aishwarya of her time, mostly known her for beauty and ''Dream Girl'' image ..but an average at best actress..nothing special.

I disagree..Chamak Challo did a lot for her popularity and plus despite all the negativity and bad reviews..Ra.One still did well. Hence Bebo and Srk benefit it a lot. Of course she benefited it more from Bodyguard..she had a better role in that film and plus it was the biggest hit of that year.

So thats why I pointed that this BO List (this hasn't been made by any member but a site) has been made keeping in mind BO collection actress film has made. This is reason why they have placed Kareena from 2010-2008

I think they look at roles and perfoemance too..because why would Katrina never made it to no. 1. And plus Kareena was no. 1 actress in 2007 for JWM but the film was not the biggest hit of that year.

PC not being no. 1 for fashion and Dostana is fishy. But from what I know Fashion wasn't as big of a hit as Kahaani was..so maybe that's the reason. Even Dostana wasn't that big of a hit. But IMO PC should have been no. 1 that year. She had the most successful year that year among all the actresses. Maybe other actresses were paid more..that could be another reason. Or maybe boxoffice India doesn't like PC.

I also think they look at previous films success..before fashion PC had Love story 2050..that might have knocked her down from being no. 1.

Well films by Kareena had one film in each year from 2008-2010 that were top grosser. Even though Katrina had better hit track but here Kareena's film made more money...
No way I can believe Kareena's performance in Golmaal Returns to be reason , that she tops Katrina in 2008. Surely its BO number that dominates in this list

That's why these sites screw... So biased! Not mentioning her even in Top3 is ridiculous!
Fashion was above average grosser and Dostana was a hit (they themselves have mentioned it) and if you are right with aspect that performances are consider, then hell she won a freaking NA...

Wasn't Jaya B on top when she married to AB Sr? and here she is never on 1st spot in spite of such popular movies back then.. 😕

Hema Malini no doubt has ruled for longest. And she was most Favorite amongst Papa's Generation, followed by Rekha. 😉

Sri, Madhuri comes after Hema & Rekha. and all other actresses after that.

But PC definitely was more popular than BOI claims to be. Dostana & Fashion put her on very popular list. every other guy I knew was mad over her.

I disagree... We usually become too emotional with out old BW films, that we tend to neglect the bunch of talent present in this generation and name it useless...

Kareena, Priyanka, Vidya and Kangana are top actresses with PC and Vidya having proved themselves to be best of this generation

Also besides Katrina, each and every actress I distinctly remember(A lister) is good in acting and has given some solid performance...

I sometimes feel that they are better than some actresses of 90s and early 20s

Well each to his or her own. But I don't Think we have an actress who's a complete package. Katrina is beautiful and can dance but she can't act. Kareena is beautiful and can act well but can't dance well. PCee is a great actor but not a great dancer. Deepika is beautiful, can act decently but can't dance that well.

But in previous gen we had actresses who were complete package, madhuri dixit was beautiful, good actress, great dancer. Aishwarya Rai was beautiful, good actor, great dancer.

Kareena and Priyanka are only two actresses who act really well and are natural. And now deepika got there. Kangana dialogue delivery is very bad and she's not apt for commercial movies. And vidya is also not apt for commercial movies but madhuri Aishwarya rani preity juhi kajol karishma these actresses wre natural and were fitted for all types of movies.

Madhuri: huma apke hai kaun ( a commercial flim, played bubbly, next door girl ) and then Anjaam ( offbeat movie, victim of abuse )

Aisnwarya Rai: hum dil de chuke sanam ( commercial movie, played bubbly girl, passionate lover ), Provoked ( victim of domestic violence, offbeat movie )

Kajol: DDLJ ( commercial movie romantic movie, played as lover ), dushman ( girl who fights for her sister )

These actresses could easily fit themselves in any types of role. Their acting was natural.

Only natural performers I see from this gen are Kareena Priyanka and now deepika got there.
