Never Say Goodbye Hello, Big Bucks

By:

Well, the waiting is over. Karan Johar's much anticipated Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (Never Say Goodbye) has finally hit the big screens. KANK, as it is known in Bollywood lingo, has probably had more written about it than any other movie due to its stupendous cast. Both Bachchans - Amitabh and Abhishek - King Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerjee and even some glimpses of star guests such as Kajol who is Johar's lucky mascot. When all of them are on the screen together you get sooo star-struck you just don't know where to look!

While the movie has received mixed reviews and the storyline of infidelity and broken marriages never really touches the heart, KANK is a visual feast. All those beautiful, beautiful people and their combined superpower make for some super viewing. The cinematography is great with lush locales and gorgeous Manish Malhotra outfits that change by the minute.

For Indian Americans, the movie will hold special appeal. It is about them, NRIs living in New York. All of the stars play characters that live and work in the Big Apple, which really shines in the movie and India is a faraway place that is hardly mentioned. Of course, none of us NRIs have huge color-coordinated wardrobes and aren't given to singing at the drop of a hat, but wouldn't we all like to do that! Over 4,000 locals were used for KANK so now Johar is providing employment opportunities to New Yorkers!

Not surprisingly, KANK spells big bucks, and theaters have been sold out before the movie even opened. According to Gitesh Pandya of Box OfficeGuru.com, KANK set a new opening weekend record for Bollywood films in North America with $1.4M from 64 locations for a $21,122 average, and the movie scored the best per-theater average of any film in the Top 40 in the United States.

Yeaaa...Kank is a Hitt!!!! Did you guys like the film?? do you guys think it deserved to be a hit!!! i thought it would definately be a hit finally a KARAN JOHAR'S movie!!

Sharukh Khan: Put on your sports shoes!

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Says ShahRukh Khan, as he complains about how sports complexes in Mumbai are used more for his shows than for playing games.

If there's one thing that singularly tops my list of priorities, then it has to be sports. I firmly believe that sports readies an individual to face the ups and downs of life with equal capacity. Most recently, my surgery reiterated my belief — if not for my love for games, I wouldn't have had the strength and discipline to face this major setback.

Unfortunately, sporting grounds in Mumbai are used more for my shows than for sports education. I agree Mumbai is like New York , with very few grounds and lack of space. But that's no excuse. Delhi , on the other hand has a lot of open space, as a kid, it enabled me to pursue whatever sport I wanted to.

My son Aryan is a gymnast and is always covered with sweat and grime. I think boys should be encouraged to be disheveled and have scraped knees and they should never look clean. I am not saying every boy in India should be Sachin Tendulkar. I'm just saying that participating in sports contributes to all round development in a big way.

It is because of sports that I learnt how to be magnanimous, large hearted and most importantly, function as part of a team. I apply this sports formula to my job. Acting is like a field game full of excitement and challenges. While I respect the opponent, the killer instinct is always predominant. I aim to be a winner and all I want is to perform better and defeat my competitor. It's like two boxers who don't hate each other but are only trying to out do the other

At the same time, sports have taught me sportsmanship and how to take defeat in my stride. My dictum is that 'You never win the silver, you always lose the gold.' A person who understands the quintessence of games discovers trust, fortitude and a will to win.

Just the other day I saw a group playing hockey and it really stimulated me. I feel very happy even when I see others play. Good education is great; but whatever said and done, sports win hands down when it comes to creating both, a health mind and a healthy body

i noticed one thing, though karan johar gives hit film, he is not the best contender for film awards amymore.

as everyone knows karan johar are in love with awards, filmfare means them like anything too big.

but after his first film, KKHH, where he won so many awards, i think he is not able to get awards, whihc his friend bhansali can easily get when he makes a film, and that particular year , he wins a award.

K3G, did not fetched him best director award, and this time too he doesnt seems to be ahead of all. though he will be nominated, but cant win, but best director award chance has much more to RAKESH ROSHAN, RAKESH MEHRA (RDB). and lets see from forthcoming films.
