And finally, the best for the last. Imagine Shah Rukh Khan playing a Muslim, Gujarati liquor baron? You can't right? Neither could we. But it's happening, and it may be clashing with Salman Khan's Sultan. Either way, this year is going to be the year of reinvention, where we see actors playing characters that they have never attempted in their character, and suffice it to say that Raees tops our list.

Vastly different tales, but largely borrowed from real life - five films that promise to light up the big screen this year

'Raees'

It's been a while since we saw Shahrukh Khan play anything but a lover boy. In 'Raees', produced by Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment and directed by Rahul Dholakia, the actor attempts to veer away from routine. Set in the 1980s, the film about prohibition has Khan play a bootlegger of Gujarat.

Shah Rukh Khan begins shooting for second schedule of 'Raees'

Mumbai: It's been a while since we saw Shah Rukh Khan play anything but a loverboy. His upcoming film Rahul Dholakia's 'Raees', is more in the commercial yet unconventional space. SRK steers away from his routine to play an underworld don. The makers released a teaser video which has created tremendous buzz among the audiences.

The director has begin shooting for the second schedule for the film. Shah Rukh, who just returned from his trip to Dubai, will soon be joining the crew.

Rahul posted a series of tweets and wrote, "End of day1 of 2nd schedule #Raees - long day, tiring, but at the end of it all a happy enthusiastic crew. Best."

The film also features Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a pivotal role and is slated to release in July 2015. There were reports of the film clashing with Salman Khan's 'Sultan' but the latest we hear is that Salman has asked the 'Sultan' makers to move their release to a later date. Hence, Shah Rukh is all set to enjoy a solo release in June with 'Raees' definitely coming on the said date.
