Every year in Bollywood about 160-180 films release and from those only 15 to 20 go on to become commercial successes. I don't know but to me that's really messed up. What's happening with these other films that people don't even know about, let alone watch in theatres. I think these are the films that need to be heavily promoted not the ones featuring A-listers.

Half of those movies are so bad there's no takers for them. that's why makers try to release them anyhow. If a small film has potential, it more than often gets noticed and gets (someone's) industry support to (get a good) release.

Just see any of the 30 or so disasters (recorded on the BOI site) that released this year, did any of those films deserve a better verdict?

Yeah I was just looking at some of them and they suck, still though the amount of disasters that the fraternity produces in a year is just shocking to me.

I think it's just a case of too much supply, and the fact that films don't have takers without big names attached to it, like stars, producers, production houses. It is sad though, that an industry that churns out so many films, has a success rate of only 10-15% max.
