I have watched him only in Ishaqzaade and found him decent there ... Much better than the promos.. so maybe I was pleasantly surprised ..
Finding him pretty underwhelming in 2 states promos..
The biggest drawback I see with him is that he always looks ... droopy ... Lack of energy and zest in his body language and the way he emotes on-screen...

Sushant Singh Rajput: Sushant has no superstar quality. He's a good actor and a decent dancer but I don't think he has that much appeal. I don't see girls going gaga over him nor do I see guys trying to emulate him. He did star in a commercial film like Shuddh Desi Romance but that role was just weird. Hopefully over time, he finds his audience and caters to their needs.

*Trying hard to be objective here 😛*

He acts and dances reasonably well... and this forum is a pretty small "sample size" even in the online world... I see a lot more appreciation for him elsewhere like twitter, FB etc..

Waise bhi , all the people in the list are just one or two films old ... Kinda hard to definitively gauge whether they have that "superstar quality" or not .. And what does that mean anyways? I mean .. I guess what I am trying to say is the whole superstar quality thing is overrated .. or should I say... that after the Khans no one really seems to have that..

All these newbies will have to rely on either quirky, appealing storylines and trailers, or extensive promotions or the songs of their film to become chart-toppers..

Anyways, coming back to Sushant, he is deliberately choosing roles and films which will immediately appeal to critics first AND also which he is sure of being promoted well so that it is a commercial success too..
I think pretty much all these newbies have a "plan" regarding how they want to set up their careers and what kinda roles they want to take up in the first 3-4 years ...

Siddharth Malhotra: What can I say? The guy's definitely trying, I'll give him that. However, his acting and dancing is still somewhat awkward to me as a viewer. He needs to continue to improve these skills if he's wants to be taken seriously and going by his interviews it seems like he does.

I have not seen HTP .. so based on what I saw in SOTY .. I found him pretty awkward and self conscious .

Ayushmann Khurrana: Two words, overrated actor. It literally seems like he plays the same person in every film he does. If he wants to prove himself he needs to start signing difficult roles where he can show off his acting "talent".

Have seen him in VD.. and I liked him there ... I find him to be a pretty natural actor .. But I see him suiting only some kinds of roles ... I mean ... "looking the part" in only some kinda roles ..

Varun Dhawan: I thought he was bad in SOTY and I don't like him in any of his ads. He needs to work on his acting skills for sure. Until then, I hope his Main Tera Hero does well so he can continue to do massy roles that lack versatility.

I liked him the most out of the trio in SOTY ... He dances well and I felt he was the most comfortable and at ease in front of the camera ..
The whole movie was "fluff" ... but in the scenes which actually had some depth to them (like his scenes with Ram Kapoor) I felt he was good...

The MTH promos are boring and forgettable. I feel if he does take up a critic-pleasing film.. he will pleasantly surprise people..

Aditya Roy Kapur: This guy is as good of a dancer as Ajay Devgan, which is a problem. Something else that worries me about him is that he's too laid back for his own good. I don't see the burning ambition in him that I see in most of the newcomers which could screw him over at the end of the day.

Havent seen or followed him much ... apart from the fitoor articles ...

By the way, I know that some of these seem harsh, but it's just constructive criticism. If you disagree, it's completely alright but understand that I'm just expressing my views. 😊

agree with most.
Arjun I liked in ishaqzaade that was a good start. but he was a huge disappointment in gunday.đŸ„±
SOTY kids.. nothing to say. big bore. Sid looks good but acting & dance. đŸ‘ŽđŸŒ varun looks fine, can act better than sid IMHO.
Sushant, very apt analysis. he lacks screen presence. and SDR was drag. story & characters were big time weird & confusion everywhere. it could have been better movie. poor acting by sushant. kai po chhe was his better performance.
Ayushman, has become one film hero. he need to do something soon. time's running for him. BW won't give many chances.
ARK he only drinks in his movies. YJHD, A2. 😕 though he was good in A2.. he needs to buckle up as you said. he is too chilled out.

They all have potential in their own way...if Arjun works on his dialogue delivery, with a few more films, he could definitely improve. Siddharth TRIES but generally leaves me underwhelmed since he's stuck in his cutesy image.

As for Sushant...I think he's the most intelligent among the new lot and that is why most people haven't been able to figure him out yet. This guy hasn't picked conventional roles from the get go...maybe that is why people don't see conventional "star" quality in him...I personally do, but to each their own.

The very fact that he's doing a DBB as his third movie when most of his contemporaries are scrambling to do the next masala movie speaks for a lot...this guy is on his own trip, forging his own path...he's a good actor who's improving with each film, a pretty good dancer in my opinion...a dancer with STYLE which most of the newbies don't have in their dancing.

I think ultimately Sushant has the most potential out of these guys to carve a NICHE for himself...maybe not a star in the conventional sense but I see him becoming an actor to reckon with in the coming years.

*Edit: A lot of people here seem to be judging him by the SDR barometer and conveniently forgetting KPC😆...also SDR as a script itself was very unconventional and if people try to find STARDOM in Sushant's character Raghu in THAT movie, then toh😆

Also I find it ironic that Sushant's dancing skills are being written off when he hasn't gotten a full fledged dance number in either of his two movies so far😆...for a guy who HAS the conventional qualities to be a hero...good dancer, actor...you'd think he'd focus on getting movies where he could put these skills to use but no, he's choosing to pick as unconventional as he can go with his roles...it's a total image transformation with DBB.

I honestly liked Sushant more in SDR than KPC. Perhaps I am the only one who feels that way😆. Raghu was a more difficult character IMO than Ishaan, and he managed to charm me into liking the jerk kinda character😳 Extra points to him for that.

@bold ... Yup!!!! A pretty wise decision, I mean .. there is more competition in the "masala" and the "romcom lover boy" genre roles .. Much smarter to go this route , and also be extremely vocal about it in interviews too...

About SDR .. lol... I wanted to push all of them off a cliff by the end of the film...

I Should not have used the word review.

The movie was quite commercially popular is more what I mean. People know who Aditya is now. He has been in Bollywood for number of years before this movie but people are taking notice of him now. As the lead.

The film must have done him some good.
