Surprised to see Priyanka leading because I found her performance to be extremely overrated and over the top. Bollywood always does that, Whenever someone plays a autistic character its automatically regarded as the best performance ever.

Anyway, its tough to choose just 1, but I think Sridevi in EV, Kangana in Queen and Vidya in Kahani are the top 3. Sonakshi, Anushka and Deepika would be next, with Lootera, BBB and CE.

bold- totally agree. But Srk in MNIK wasn't liked that much..but But Rani in Black was also liked a lot.

I think picking the best is hard as there so many great performances.

Barfi is leading .. I think it's because her role was the most challenging to play since Rani in Black. I don't think she was over the top..she was convincing and she was really good IMO. But she didn't make me go WOW..what a performance. I was impressed with her more in Kaminey than Barfi..even Rani..I was like meh that was good acting but it didn't really impact me in any way. I usually connect and like performances that make me smile or cry..and those two performances are Geet from JWM and Serdevi from English Vinglish. I loved Anuska in BBB too..I personally would put these three performances above Barfi mainly because I connected with them more. I haven't seen Queen but from the promos I feel like am gonna really like Kangana in it.

I liked IIIena better in Barfi than both Ranbir and PC.

I was shocked to see her act like that. I would have never expected a performance like that. I thought Kahaani was extremely overrated that year. 😛

same I think Vidya in Kahaani was overrated not PC in Barfi. Honestly am not surprised she's leading and well deserved..it was a challenging role to pull off. Not my fav performance but she deserves all the praise she got and more..she should have won more awards and perhaps even a National Award. If they can give to Vidya for TDP why not PC for Barfi..which was more challenging.

1) Priyanka in Barfi and Sonakshi in Lootera- After watching both the films, I came out of the theater and asked myself how did they do that? And that's my reason of ranking them at the top of the list. Jhilmil and Pakhi transported me to a world of their own and that's what I felt was the best part of their performances. And I don't think Jhilmil was an overrated performance. She enacted in such a way that you will not feel pity for her, but be happy for her and be a part of her happiness. That's why I still feel Jhilmil is the best character of Barfi.

2)Vidya in Kahaani and Kangana in Queen- For being real. Very hard to enact the role of a girl next door. For making me believe that they are Vidya and Rani and not Vidya Balan and Kangana Ranaut.

3) Sridevi for English Vinglish- Same as the second point but ranked her below because of her pronunciation and diction.

4) Priaynka Chopra in Saat Khoon Maaf ( the last bit with her turning old-awesome!)

5) Parineeti Chopra in LVRB - I know usually actors in comic roles are not considered in the 'best actress' category but I guess she is one of the few actors who enacted a young Punjabi girl without going overboard.

6)Alia Bhatt in Highway- Her innocence in the film bowled me over. And the monologues.

7)Vidya Balan in No One Killed Jessica

8)Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture

9) Vidya Balan in Ishqiya
