Did critics and we( the audience) watch the same movie? How can they not understand the movie? Or say things like Veera got friendly with her kidnappers to quickly, I mean she was breaking her shell which had been there for atleast 10-12 years (since she was 9). Some critics have complained about second-half being slow and depressing. I thought it was liberating than depressing. I am so disappointed to read reviews of this movie by critics. Movies like these rely on word of mouth and if critics are not going to be enthusiastic about it who is going to watch it. I haven't met anyone who hasn't liked this movie. I hope it picks up and if not hit atleast turn out to be an average grosser😭
I am totally wondering too, why Veera opening up to her kidnappers is such a huge flaw as per the critics😕
@stargirl - I do agree with that to an extent - u have to be mentally prepared for something of this sort - but just going by personal experience - some of my friends who are totally into massy entertainment and went to watch highway totally unprepared andwith super low expectations...ended up coming out being in awe of it...something moved them from within...if it could move the general audience too...then I dont get why critics who watch a movie for those unsaid minute details, couldnt grasp the essence...
does anyone else feel that the bond between mahabir and veera was NOT romantic? i never felt it was romantic or "love story" types when i saw the film...
i felt it was more like she found a friend/confidant/father /guardian figure in her life because she grossly lacked one all her life...like the man who abuses her was MEANT to be a father figure to her but she obviously despises him and yet still had to be nice to him throughout her llife, she dosent feel very close to her father because she dosent confide her truth to him...when she does confide to her mom, the mom brushes it under the carpet...so i really think the fact tht she confided to mahabir and felt more "protected" with him was because he was kinda like the family/guardian she never had...i actually never thought their chemistry was ever "romantic" ...
